10th AUGUST 1977 CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA, B.S.CITY, took its birth when the sacred lamp was lit by SMT.SAMARAPUNGAVAN(Spouse of the then Managing Director, Bokaro Steel Palnt, Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL).For Nursery and Preparatory classes, the admission had started on the same day. Two nursery sections and one preparatory section started classes on 19th of AUGUST 1977.There were 15 students in each section. Bokaro Steel Plant, SAIL allotted the land for the construction of the school building in sector V and the BHOOMI PUJA and the FOUNDATION STONE was laid by our PUJYA GURUDEV SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA in the month of January 1978.The foundation Stone for the nearby AYYAPPA TEMPLE also was laid by PUJYA GURUDEV. The construction of the school building was completed with the office wing and the ground floor, nursery side to accommodate Nursery to 2 children. The children were shifted to the new school building in the month of July 1978.Construction of the Stage wing was done in the month of November 1985. In the year 1983 Shri Ramaswamy was appointed as the Principal of the school and in the Year 1984 the school was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and the First batch of std X appeared the board examination in the year 1985.In the year 1987 the first batch of Senior Secondary students (ONLY SCIENCE STREAM) appeared for the exam. of teachers to 60. Under the guidance of the different Brahmacharis and Brahmacharinis the school could grow to the present stage of spiritual education too. Among them Br.Nikhil Chaithanya, Aditya Chaithanya, Sudhanshu Chaithanya, Jaganmithra Chaithanya, Swamini Samyuktananda ji and the other devotees of Gurudev are taking great efforts, bearing the torch of the motto of the mission- Maximum Happiness to Maximum People for the Maximum Time – to fulfill it. Presently, the school is nurturing around 4000 students under the able guidance of one of the most eminent educationist of the city, Shri Mahesh Tripathi(Secretary) & Dr. Ashok Singh(Principal). We feel that the blessings of our PUJYA GURUDEV are always with us in all our endeavours and will continue to have it in future too. Thus the Chinmaya Family is elevated from the EGOCENTRIC WORLD of VASANAS to a spiritual world of BLISS through the spiritual guidance of the ardent disciples of our Gurudev. The society is also benefited by the discourses at various places in the city by different Swamiji and Swamini of CHINMAYA MISSION.

We are delighted to share that Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro participated in the 4th Jharkhand State Gatka Championship, held on 22nd and 23rd August 2026 at St. Xavier International School, Dhanbad.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro celebrates स्वर्ण महोत्सव✨✨

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro, an educational institution whose legacy extends far beyond Jharkhand to a global scale, has officially stepped into its golden year. Established in 1977 and widely renowned for its strong cultural values, the school marked the occasion with a grand Golden Jubilee ceremony on its campus. Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi graced the event as the Chief Guest.

The celebration was attended by prominent dignitaries including former Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission Bokaro Swamini Samyuktananda Saraswati, President Biswaroop Mukhopadhyay, Secretary Mahesh Tripathi, Treasurer R.N. Malik, Principal Suraj Sharma, Senior Vice-Principal Narmendra Kumar, and Vice-Principal Dr. Roshan Sharma, alongside principals, directors, and distinguished guests from various schools across the district.

The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by Pre-Primary students reciting the 12th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita and music department students rendering a welcome song. The audience was then treated to a mesmerizing Shiva Stuti dance performance, as well as a vibrant Santhali dance highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Jharkhand, which drew enthusiastic applause from the auditorium.

A major highlight of the event was a grand theatrical depiction of Krishna Leela presented by over 350 students, tracing the life of Lord Krishna from his birth to his message of divine love, earning high praise from parents and guests alike.

During the ceremony, Chief Guest Mrs. Annpurna Devi felicitated 41 meritorious students for their outstanding academic achievements. In her address, she praised Chinmaya Vidyalaya Bokaro for its dedication to promoting Indian culture and civilization, noting that this commitment is what sets the institution apart from others. She highlighted that the school’s alumni continue to bring honor to the nation both in India and abroad.

Paying tribute to Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati, she stated that Gurudev’s vision of passing India’s rich heritage down to future generations is clearly coming to fruition today, adding that Gen Z will play a pivotal role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s *Viksit Bharat 2047* vision.

The event also honored the school's leadership legacy, welcoming former principals including President’s Awardees Dr. Hemlatha Biswas and Dr. Ashok Singh, along with Mr. Ashok Kumar Jha. Swamini Samyuktananda Saraswati felicitated them for their immense contributions, as well as former teachers and members of the Alumni Association.

Reminiscing about Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati, Swamini Samyuktananda emphasized that the foundation of the school's ongoing achievements was laid by Gurudev himself, whose guidance remains ever-present through his timeless teachings. She expressed her gratitude to all past and present faculty and students whose continuous efforts made this 50-year milestone possible.

Expressing his heartfelt thanks to the Chief Guest, Principal Suraj Sharma urged students to never stop learning, regardless of life’s circumstances. He credited the dedication of former principals and teachers for shaping the school into what it is today, reminding the students of their responsibility to understand and carry forward Chinmaya's rich legacy.

The celebration concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Senior Vice-Principal Narmendra Kumar, acknowledging the hard work of the organizing committee, including Subrata Gupta, Meenakshi Kumari, Sonali Gupta, Siben Chakraborty, and the entire faculty and staff.

Students Showcase India’s Rich Cultural Heritage Through Patriotic and Folk Performances

India celebrated its 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on Saturday, 15 August 2026. At Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro, the occasion was marked by a vibrant blend of patriotism, cultural pride and the spirit of nation-building. The celebrations featured flag hoisting, a Prabhat Pheri and a series of captivating cultural performances by the students.

Swamini Samyuktananda Saraswati, Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission, Bokaro, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. School Secretary Shri Mahesh Tripathi, Treasurer Shri R.N. Mallick, Principal Shri Suraj Sharma, Senior Vice Principal Shri Narmendra Kumar, and Vice Principal Dr. Roshan Sharma were also present.

The celebrations began with a spirited Prabhat Pheri, in which more than 800 students marched through the surrounding areas carrying the Tricolour and raising patriotic slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, spreading the message of patriotism and national pride.

The main programme commenced with a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, who were presented with saplings as a symbol of growth and environmental responsibility. Students of the Music Department then filled the atmosphere with soulful patriotic songs.

The highlight of the ceremony was the flag-hoisting, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram. The NCC cadets and students representing the four Houses then presented an impressive March Past, reflecting discipline, unity, courage and the indomitable spirit of the nation.

The cultural segment added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations. The young performers enthralled the audience with a graceful dance presentation on “Mere Desh Mein Pawan Chale Purwai”. This was followed by a lively Santhali folk dance, which beautifully showcased the rich tribal heritage of Jharkhand. A high-energy Zumba performance further delighted the audience, while a melodious instrumental presentation of patriotic tunes added a unique musical dimension to the programme.

The much-awaited Inter-House Dance Competition brought the cultural programme to a grand finale. Students from all four Houses presented spectacular performances celebrating India’s unity in diversity. Their energetic and expressive performances evoked a deep sense of patriotism and pride among the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Shri Suraj Sharma said that India’s diversity is its greatest strength and identity. He emphasized that the country’s rich traditions, languages, art forms and cultural heritage make India unique in the world. He urged students to nurture a deep sense of love, respect and responsibility towards the nation and to contribute meaningfully to its progress.

He congratulated all the participating students and appreciated their enthusiasm, creativity and dedication in making the Independence Day celebrations memorable.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Senior Vice Principal Shri Narmendra Kumar. The entire event was successfully coordinated and organised under the guidance of Shri Subrata Gupta, Ms. Meenakshi Kumari and Ms. Sonali Gupta.

The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the values of freedom, unity, discipline, cultural pride and responsible citizenship, inspiring every student to contribute towards building a stronger and more developed India.
