Happy Independence Day of India

February 3 is known as “Setsubun,” which marks the beginning of spring in Japan. This is a day for holding events to drive away evil spirits and welcome the coming of a refreshing spring, and for "mamemaki" - bean-throwing—which takes place at homes and involves throwing roasted beans to cries of "Fuku wa uchi, oni 👹 wa soto" - meaning “Happiness in! Demons out!” Various events to bring good fortune associated with Setsubun are also held at shrines and temples nationwide.
