Can a 9-year-old compete with the world’s top photographers? Shreyovi Mehta has shown that talent has no age limit.
Shreyovi Mehta from Faridabad, Haryana, has made India proud with her remarkable success in wildlife photography. At only 9 years old, she earned international recognition in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, often called the Oscars of wildlife photography. The event is organized by the Natural History Museum in London.
Her award-winning photograph, In the Spotlight, beautifully captured two peahens standing beneath trees in Keoladeo National Park, Rajasthan. The stunning image impressed judges among nearly 60,000 entries from 117 countries. With this achievement, Shreyovi became one of the youngest Indian photographers to gain global attention.
Her success continued in the 2025 edition of the competition, where she received honors again for two more wildlife photographs. One image showed a Sarus crane reacting near a water pump, while another captured birds in a dramatic wetland scene.
Shreyovi is a student at Shiv Nadar School and receives strong support from her family, who also share a love for wildlife and nature photography. Reports say she began using a camera when she was just two years old.
Her inspiring journey proves that age is never a barrier to success. With passion, patience, and creativity, young talent can achieve extraordinary things and bring pride to India on the global stage.
