Experiment at Home: Lemon Cell

Grade: VIII
Subject: Science

Here we have made a lemon cell and light up a small LED using chemical energy.

Due to the chemical reaction between the citric acid of lemon and the two different metal electrodes, a very small amount of electric current is produced. This converts chemical energy into electrical energy.

From this experiment we conclude that chemical energy can be converted into electrical energy. But the amount of electricity produced by a lemon cell is very less.
