AIIMS Bilaspur celebrates Ganesh Utsav 2026 with the spirit of Institutional Oneness

Bilaspur, 14 September 2026:
AIIMS Bilaspur warmly welcomed Lord Ganesha to the campus with the auspicious Ganesh Ji Sthapana and Aarti, marking the beginning of Ganesh Utsav 2026.
The celebration brought together members of the AIIMS family—faculty, nursing officers and students, resident doctors, ministerial and administrative staff, engineering personnel, security staff and other members of the institute community—in a spirit of togetherness and shared participation.
The celebrations are being organised around the theme of “Institutional Oneness – One AIIMS, One Team, One Community”, reflecting the belief that while every member of the institute has a different role and responsibility, we are united by a common purpose and a shared institutional identity.
The week-long celebrations will include prayer and aarti, recreational and indoor activities, cultural programmes and co-learning activities, providing an opportunity for members of the AIIMS family to come together beyond their routine professional roles.
The Ganesh Sthapana was marked with devotion, enthusiasm and positive energy, seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for wisdom, harmony, prosperity and the continued growth of AIIMS Bilaspur.
The celebrations will culminate with Ganesh Visarjan on 20 September 2026, bringing the week-long festivities to a graceful close.

A meeting of ECHO India representatives with the Executive Director, Heads of Departments and faculty/team members was held on 14/09/2026 to explore opportunities for initiating new ECHO programmes intended at knowledge sharing, capacity building and strengthening healthcare delivery.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Lt Gen (Dr) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Executive Director, AIIMS Bilaspur, with Dr. Anupam Parashar, Prof and Head Community and Family Medicine as Nodal person of ECHO at AIIMS Bilaspur and Dr Bhoopendra Patel as coordinator ; with the ECHO India team, led by Dr Sandeep Bhalla, Vice President; Ms Deepa Jha, General Manager, Dr Purnima Parashar, Senior Manager; and Mr Abhishek, Senior Executive, along with heads of the departments and team members of AIIMS Bilaspur.
The discussion focused on identifying potential departments and areas for new ECHO initiatives and developing a framework for future collaboration.

Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, DHR, Government of India, and Director General, ICMR, inaugurated the Central Research Facility at AIIMS Bilaspur on 12 September 2026 in the presence of Prof. Dr. N. K. Arora, President, AIIMS Bilaspur; Lt. Gen. (Dr) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Executive Director. Dr. Anupam Parashar, Dean (Research); Dr. Dinesh Verma, Medical Superintendent; and faculty and staff from the facility attended the event.
The facility will provide a shared research platform for faculty, researchers, and students. It features advanced instruments, including a spectral flow cytometer and sorter, multiplex immunoassay system, live-cell imaging system, and modern genomics and proteomics platforms. To support translational research, the CRF is developing laboratories dedicated to big data, computational sciences, and advanced experimental methods.
The facility will support pioneering research and help establish the institute as a centre of research excellence.

AIIMS Bilaspur celebrated its first Research Day on 12-09-2026. To foster collaboration for academics, research and training, with the medical institutions of Himachal Pradesh, AIIMS Bilaspur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU). The MoU focuses on joint research initiatives and the co-organization of professional workshops or seminars and sharing of educational resources and the reciprocal exchange of students and faculty members for training purposes. This MoU was signed by Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd.) and Dr. D. K. Verma, Vice-Chancellor of Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU) at the Administrative Block, in the presence of Dean (Research), Dr Anupam Parashar and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhawani Principal of SLBS-GMC. Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dinesh Verma; Associate Dean (Research), Dr. Poojan Dogra; Registrar, Mr. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Shashikant, Chief Medical Officer, Bilaspur were also present during the meeting.
This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing healthcare education, enabling reciprocal student and faculty exchanges, and driving joint research initiatives aligned with national priorities.

The First Research Day at AIIMS Bilaspur, held on September 12, 2026, highlighted scientific curiosity and talent through a Poster Exhibition and Innovation Station Display. Chief Guest Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary DHR and DG-ICMR, visited the exhibition, where faculty and students presented their research and engaged with attendees. The Innovation Station featured novel ideas and projects from both faculty and students. Distinguished guests included President, Dr. N. K. Arora; Executive Director, Lt Gen (Dr) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd); Dean (Research), Dr. Anupam Parashar; Dean (Academics), Dr. Rupali Parlewar; Dean (Examination), Dr. Nidhi Puri; Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dinesh Verma, and Associate Dean (Research) Dr. Poojan Dogra Marwah.
During the event, the dignitaries released the second edition of the institute's literary magazine, "Blossom," led by Dean (Academics) Dr. Rupali Parlewar, along with the editorial team.
A roundtable discussion, chaired by Dr. Rajiv Bahl and Dr. N. K. Arora, focused on promoting inter-institutional and multidisciplinary collaboration in health research, identifying region- and state-specific research priorities, and developing initiatives to address the healthcare needs of Himachal Pradesh. Participants included Dr. D. K. The Research Day celebration held at AIIMS Bilaspur on 12/09/2026, honored the outstanding contributions of our faculty, resident doctors, and students toward advancing research for various competitions held during the month of July and August for research day celebration. All the candidates recieved awards from the Chief Guest for the event, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research and Director General of ICMR along with the President of AIIMS Bilaspur, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Arora and Executive Director, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd.)

In the faculty categories, awardees were, Prof. (Dr.) Punam Verma (1st prize for both the Best Faculty Project and the Best Faculty Publication; Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Parashar (2nd, Best Project); Dr. Rupali Parlewar (2nd, Best Publication) and Dr. Harpreet Kaur (3rd, Best Project and Best Publication). Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Parashar was also awarded in recognition for her DHR-ICMR Short Term International Fellowship (2025–26).

Dr. Ajay Jaryal received the award for publication in the journal with the highest impact factor, Dr. Deepti Malik was conferred the Special Commendation Award, and Dr. Kapil Sharma was awarded for best proposal at the Research Idea Clinic. The Clinical Case Challenge awards were conferred to Dr. Manupriya (Faculty), Dr. Shivani Jain (Senior Resident), Dr. Vinay Sharma (Junior Resident), and Dr. Misha Suman (Special Jury Award).

For the Best PG Thesis awards, first prize secured by Rajesh Kanna S, Monalisa Sethi, and Prateek Goyal. The Best UG Research Project awards recognized Harsh*ta, Dhavni, and Prachi. Sania Khan and A***n Aggarwal earned recognitions under innovative ideas, while Dr. Anupama Dhiman (First), the team of Dr. Monika Sharma and Dr. Varinder Kaur (second), and Mr. Shiv Sagar Mahato (third) won prizes for best logo designs for research section.

Awards for earning ICMR PG Thesis Grants were given to Dr. Rohit Aswal, Dr. J Amareshwara, and Dr. Rajapriya T, alongside awards for ICMR STS grants for undergraduate students, Raksh*t Vashisht, Dhavni, Prachi, Chelsea Vasundhara, Harsh*ta, Devyansh Gupta, and Aadish Zutshi.

The Newborn Screening (NBS) Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, AIIMS Bilaspur, was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, DHR and Director General of ICMR on 12-09-2026.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Arora, President, AIIMS Bilaspur; Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), Executive Director, AIIMS Bilaspur; Dr. Anupam Parashar, Dean (Research) and Dr. Dinesh Verma, Medical Superintendent, along with faculty and staff of the department.
The newly established lab is the first dedicated Newborn Screening Lab in Himachal Pradesh and will use dried blood spot (DBS)-based testing for screening newborns for common inherited and metabolic disorders. Early identification of these conditions can enable timely intervention and help prevent avoidable morbidity, developmental impairment and mortality.
Dr. Rajiv Bahl appreciated the initiative taken by AIIMS Bilaspur and emphasized the importance of developing the facility into a comprehensive newborn screening service, integrating screening with confirmatory diagnosis, counselling, treatment and follow-up.

AIIMS Bilaspur successfully hosted its first Research Day on 12/09/2026, marking a significant milestone in the institution's ongoing commitment to scientific discovery, academic excellence, and healthcare innovation. This event brought together eminent medical leaders, faculty members, researchers, and enthusiastic students at the institutional auditorium. This event was graced by the presence of the Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of health Research and Director General of ICMR as Chief Guest.
The celebration commenced in the morning with the formal inauguration and a walkthrough of the scientific poster exhibition by the Chief Guest, Dr. Rajiv Bahl with President of AIIMS Bilaspur, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Arora. Executive Director of AIIMS Bilaspur, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), and Dr. Anupam Parashar Dean (research) also interacted with the researchers. Dr. Rupali Parlewar Dean (Academics), Dr. Nidhi Puri, Dean (Examination), Dr. Dinesh Verma, Medical Superintendent were also present during the event. Showcasing research by faculty, resident doctors, and students, the exhibition served as a vibrant hub for scientific exchange and intellectual discourse. Among other notable invited dignitaries, Dr. D. K. Verma, Vice-Chancellor, Atal Medical & Research University, Ner Chowk; Dr. Sita Thakur, Principal, IGMC Shimla and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhawani, Principal, SLBS-GMC, Ner Chowk, Mandi were also present during the celebration.
The event began with address of the Dean (Research) with display of a video clip of research section. She presented a brief overview of the research related activities, with vision and future roadmap of research at AIIMS Bilaspur.
Delivering his address, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bilaspur, highlighted the remarkable trajectory of the institution. Comparing AIIMS Bilaspur's journey to a child growing up, he emphasized that the institute is witnessing rapid progress and development across all fronts, evolving swiftly into a premier centre for medical education, patient care, and research excellence.
Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Arora, President of AIIMS Bilaspur, addressed the gathering with a strong call to action for the academic community. He urged faculty members to actively engage in high-impact research and underscored the critical importance of mentoring undergraduate students at an early stage in their academic careers. He stressed on fostering a robust culture of innovation, emphasizing that breakthroughs of tomorrow require seamless interdepartmental and inter-institutional collaborations today.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Rajiv Bahl. Speaking on "Research in Medical Institutions in India: Vision, Strategy, and Action," Dr. Bahl elaborated on the national roadmap for health research. He strongly emphasized the imperative need for innovation, discovery, and targeted research that directly impacts and improves community health outcomes. Following his address, Dr. Bahl engaged the audience in an enriching and dynamic interactive session, fielding numerous questions from enthusiastic students and researchers. The celebration concluded with a solemn prize distribution ceremony, recognizing and honouring excellence and ingenuity in the research day competitions. The proceedings wrapped up with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Poojan Dogra Marwaha, Associate Dean (Research).
An important highlight of this celebration was the formal inauguration of Central Research Facility, Newborn Screening Lab of AIIMS Bilaspur by the chief guest, DG-ICMR.
