रेलवे, इस्टीट्यूट ऑफ चार्टर्ड एकाउंटेंट्स ऑफ इंडिया (आईसीएआई) के साथ टाई-अप कर रही है। नए सिस्टम में रेलवे की एसेट्स और लायबिलिटीज को कवर करने के साथ ही फाइनेंशियल पोजीशन पर ज्यादा रोशनी डाली जाएगी। अभी रेलवे को न के बराबर प्राइवेट इनवेस्टमेंट मिलता है।
रेलवे के पूर्व फाइनेंस कमिश्नर ए वी पोउलोस ने बताया, 'इससे निश्चित तौर पर रेलवे को लेकर इनवेस्टर सेंटीमेंट बदलेगा क्योंकि आप अपने बही-खातों को वैश्विक तौर पर स्वीकार किए जाने वाले नॉर्म्स के मुताबिक बना रहे हैं। इससे ज्यादा ट्रांसपैरेंसी और एक्युरेसी भी आएगी।'
कैश एकाउंटिंग सिस्टम में कुल इनकम और एक्सपेंडिचर को लिया जाता है और इसमें एसेट्स और लायबिलिटीज शामिल नहीं होती। एक्युरल-बेस्ड एकाउंटिंग रेवेन्यू उस फाइनेंशियल ईयर में रिपोर्ट किया जाता है जिसमें यह कमाया गया है, इस पर इस बात का असर नहीं होता कि यह वास्तव में कब प्राप्त हुआ है। इसके साथ ही एक्सपेंडिचर होने पर उसे घटाया जाता है और इसका फर्क नहीं पड़ता कि एक्सपेंडिचर का कब भुगतान हुआ है।
आईसीएआई के प्रेसिडेंट मनोज फडनीस ने बताया, 'हम जल्द ही रेलवे के साथ एमओयू साइन करेंगे। हमें उम्मीद है कि रेलवे कुछ छोटी डिविजंस के साथ एक्रुअल-बेस्ड एकाउंटिंग की शुरुआत करेगी और इसके बाद इसे सभी जोन में लागू किया जाएगा।'

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu (born 11 July 1953) is an Indian politician and the current Railway Minister of India, under the Narendra Modi government.[1] He is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Since 1996, Prabhu has been a repeatedly elected Member of Parliament from Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra as a member of the Shiv Sena (SS) political party.
