On Ayurveda Day 2026, we pay a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. Javed Rasheed, a visionary practitioner whose life was a masterclass in selfless service and healing. Deeply rooted in the twin traditions of Ayurveda and Unani medicine, Dr. Rasheed bridged ancient wisdom with profound human compassion to serve the people of Seohara, Bijnor, and beyond.
Throughout his remarkable life, Dr. Rasheed stood as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged, treating countless patients free of cost. He believed that healthcare was a right, not a privilege, ensuring that poverty was never a barrier to receiving life-saving treatment.
His extraordinary clinical expertise allowed him to successfully manage complex and devastating conditions, including cancer, tumors, and severe skin allergies, using the holistic and natural principles of Ayurvedic and Unani therapies. By targeting the root causes of chronic ailments, he restored health and dignity to patients when conventional options seemed exhausted.
Dr. Javed Rasheed’s legacy lives on in the thousands of lives he touched, healed, and transformed a true testament to the timeless power of traditional medicine and pure humanitarian spirit.

From Educators to Clerks: The Systemic Exploitation of India’s Teachers

A major NIEPA study reveals that government teachers spend a mere 19.1% of their annual working hours on actual teaching and related academic activities.
The remaining 80.9% of their time is heavily consumed by non-teaching tasks, government welfare schemes, and administrative school management duties.
Teachers are routinely forced to manage multiple digital portals, handle daily online data entry, and upload photos for midday meal verifications.
Authorities frequently exploit teachers for unlawful duties outside the legal scope, including caste surveys, livestock censuses, and Aadhaar verifications. This excessive workload treats highly qualified educators as low-cost clerical labor, causing severe mental harassment, burnout, and a loss of professional dignity.
Many private schools force teachers into non-teaching tasks like managing school transport, administrative events, or canteens to cut operational costs.
The Supreme Court of India has repeatedly ruled that pulling teachers away from classrooms for non-statutory work is unconstitutional and invalid. Over 66% of teachers identify these non-academic pressures as the single largest hurdle to providing quality education to their students.

Under Section 27 of India's Right to Education (RTE) Act, deploying school teachers for non-academic work other than the decennial population census, disaster relief duties, and local or national election work is strictly prohibited during school hours.

School teachers in India face a severe crisis characterized by extreme financial distress, crushing administrative workloads, and a rising epidemic of mental health issues like anxiety and chronic burnout. Despite India ranking in the top 10 globally for societal respect toward educators, their actual working conditions tell a vastly different story. Over 1 crore (10.1 million) teachers navigate an educational ecosystem marked by severe salary disparities, where contractual staff and private school educators earn as little as ₹6,500 to ₹20,000 per month, frequently placing them below the wage levels of skilled manual labor.
