IIT Patna recently had the honor of hosting Prof. Kanhaiya Tripathi, Special Monitor of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)! 🏛️

During his visit to review our campus welfare and grievance mechanisms, Prof. Tripathi proposed exciting tech-driven initiatives, including establishing a Human Rights Cell, developing an app to combat human trafficking, and hosting a "Human Rights Innovation Fest." 💡

In response, Director Prof. T. N. Singh announced the creation of four new institute awards to recognize notable contributions in this field, powerfully stating: "Awareness of human rights is not the responsibility of any single institution or organization, but a collective responsibility of all." 🤝

🌟 IIT Patna Inaugurates International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Sustainable Technologies (ICST 2026)! 🌟

On August 1-2, 2026, IIT Patna proudly hosted ICST 2026, bringing together delegates and researchers from reputed institutions to discuss the future of tech and sustainability. The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Chief Guest and Hon'ble Director of IIT Patna, Prof. T. N. Singh, and Guest of Honour, Prof. Tapan Kumar Gandhi (IIT Delhi). They were joined by esteemed dignitaries including General Chairs Dr. Maheshkumar H. Kolekar and Prof. Jagdish Bansal, along with Prof. A. K. Thakur, Dr. Anup Kumar Keshri, and Prof. Rajiv Misra.

During the event, Prof. T. N. Singh underscored the critical need to balance energy production with responsible consumption, emphasizing that emerging technologies like AI will play a transformative role in driving solutions for a greener future. Adding to this, Prof. T. K. Gandhi drew a fascinating analogy between modern AI and fundamental biology to promote sustainability, while Prof. Bansal highlighted the Soft Computing Research Society's role in advancing research and innovation.

IIT Patna successfully concluded its two-day national training event, 'SAMAVESHA-19', organised in association with I-STEM under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India (OPSA, GOI).

Held from July 20 to July 21, 2026, the workshop focused on the theme "Bridging the Gap: Empowering Research through Shared Scientific Equipment". It served as a vital platform for nearly 200 researchers across the Bihar region to democratize access to advanced research facilities.

The second day featured insightful technical sessions from distinguished IIT Patna faculty members, including Dr Chandra Shekhar Prajapati, Dr Anirban Chowdhury, Dr Anirban Mahato, Prof. Md. Lokman Hakim Choudhury, and Dr Ajay D. Thakur. The event wrapped up with an engaging open panel discussion, a special talk on the relevance of Sanskrit by Prof. Jyotsna Mishra, and a certificate distribution ceremony.

SAMAVESHA-19 has empowered regional researchers to seamlessly utilise the I-STEM web-based reservation portal, reinforcing our dedication to collaborative scientific advancement.

Published by Elsevier, PSEP is a highly esteemed, JCR Q1-ranked international journal with an impressive 2025 Impact Factor of 7.9 and a CiteScore of 12.8.
