Greet success on the wings of the English Language
The world celebrates the English Language Day today (April 23, 2023). The English Language rules the roost among other languages in the world with its wide reach, having infiltrated the remotest pockets around the globe. The diverse characters in its literature encompass the entire gamut of human emotions with a panache that has wowed readers the world over through centuries.
To mark the occasion, students of Foundation Academy put together a programme that attempted to bring alive the diverse spirit of the English Language. Anchored with zest by senior English teacher, B.Dasgupta sir, the participants held sway over the audience with their intense performances.

Today is the day that carries the message of unbound love, of selfless sacrifice, of unadulterated compassion for fellow beings and of unshakable self-restraint. Today is the day that yet again reinstates our faith in humanity. Today (April 22, 2023) is the day we celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
On this occasion, we present a speech by Palak, a student of Class X, who highlights the importance of the celebrations.

TREASURE YOUR EYES
Our sense of sight is responsible for most of the information we absorb from our five combined senses. Many of the movements we perform, tasks we complete and personal interactions we make, rely on vision in some way. And what better way to make students aware of the importance of proper eyesight right from a kiddie age, than to organise an ‘EYE CAMP’ in school.
Precisely the reason why Medanta Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, Patna, organised a two-day (Monday and Tuesday) Eye Camp and Eye Screening Test for all students from Class I to X at Foundation Academy. A team, comprising Dr Jitendra Sharma, Ravi Kumar Singh and Md Tanweer (both Optometrists), examined the students. The objective of the eye check-up was to identify deficiencies among the children and provide tips on caring for and protecting their eyes. Tagged to the check-up was an interactive awareness session, during which Dr Jitendra Sharma familiarised the students with various eye-related topics like Refractive Errors, Cataract, Glaucoma, Food habits for good eyesight and Computer/ Smartphone Vision Syndrome. Principal, Mrs Rama Chakraborty also interacted with the students.
The camp proved immensely beneficial for the students. The camp is expected to bring a change in the attitude of the students and they would now start taking preventive measures to avoid eye health problems.

Ambedkar Jayanti – an occasion to ruminate
It is said that human rights like justice, liberty and equality thrive when those for whom they are meant, preserve them with all their might. Are we, then, doing enough to preserve them today?
That is the question that squarely stares us in the face as we celebrate ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’ or ‘Bhim Jayanti’ to commemorate the memory of the Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar today (April 14). An economist, politician and social reformer, Dr Ambedkar advocated reservations for the underprivileged sections. He was the first Law Minister and Chairman of the committee that penned the Indian Constitution.
Primarily, the Indian Constitution is an exercise in ensuring the basic human rights to every single citizen of the country, regardless of caste, creed or colour. The spirit of our Constitution lies in its inherent binding force.
As we celebrate ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’ today, we will do well to remember the values and ethics enshrined in the Constitution…for our own sake and, indeed, for the sake of posterity.

It’s Election Time, Folks!
Elections are what define the very fabric and spirit of a democracy. Students at FoundationAcademy are all geared up to have a close brush with the election process. The atmosphere within the campus throbs with excitement as they gird their loins to participate in an election for Head Boy and Head Girl for the session 2023-24, to be held in a single phase on April 21, 2023.
The entire process of election – from nomination and campaigning and presentation of manifestos to casting and counting of votes until the final declaration of results – is envisioned to develop student leadership and awareness of the democratic procedure. The activity is a lesson on how people’s representatives are elected in a democratic set-up.
Once elected, the Head Boy and Head Girl would function as a bridge between the students and the school management. Concurrently, in conjunction with the House Captains and House Masters, they would help maintain discipline in the school and support students in a variety of co-curricular and sports events.
