"India is on the moon!"
Quoted by ISRO Chairman S. Somanath, and to be remembered by every Indian for years to come. To every Indian, this marvellous achievement is a matter of pride and joy, while for every man and woman of Science, it is a moment of joy, pride, and honour and is a step towards newer possibilities.
The patience, the perseverance, the immense hard work, the hopes, the prayers, and the extraordinary will to achieve something so remarkable cannot be justified with verbs, nouns, and adjectives. The true essence of the toil lies with the scientists and engineers who gave their all for the common cause.

For the people of India, this is a moment of celebration. Even more for us, the people associated with the prestigious technical and scientific institutions, not only is this time for celebration but also the time to be inspired and be reminded of the responsibility of upholding our predecessors' work. We will hold the stance tomorrow and be endowed with the task of leading and excelling.

We congratulate ISRO and the entire team working on the Chandrayaan-3 mission for disregarding all boundaries and establishing the mark of their capabilities.
On an ending note, we plea everyone to firm their resolve and dream beyond the horizon, for the limit is not the sky.

Hey folks

The superconductivity phenomenon was discovered in 1911 by Dutch physicist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes.
Superconductivity is a set of physical properties observed in certain materials where electrical resistance vanishes and magnetic flux fields are expelled from the material.
a superconductor has a characteristic critical temperature below which the resistance drops abruptly to zero.
An electric current through a loop of superconducting wire can persist indefinitely with no power source.

MatES is starting its series of weekly material science posts to normalize people with the exquisite discoveries, research areas, inventions, and innovations in this domain. To kickstart this series, we have "Graphene," the material that fascinates all the materials researchers' minds.

Graphene is extracted from graphite and is one - atom thick layer of sp2 hybridized C atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. It's calculated that graphene is 200 times more resistant than steel and five times lighter than aluminum.

Dieudonne Dolomieu was a French geologist and mineralogist after whom the mineral dolomite was named. He was a member of the order of Malta since infancy. Following a study of the Alps (1789–90), he described dolomite (1791) The rock, which gave its name to the Dolomite Mountains where it was found, has crystals of calcium and magnesium carbonate, generally white or pinks.

As a member of Napoleon's expedition to Egypt (1798), Dolomieu was captured on the way home and imprisoned at Messina. During his imprisonment he wrote his main treatise on minerals (1801), on the margins of a Bible.
