The School of Communications, XIM University, Bhubaneswar, successfully hosted the SCOMM UG Alumni Talk 2026 on March 6, 2026, on the theme “From Campus to Career.”
The session was led by Ankur Biplav (Class of 2020), currently a journalist at The Indian Express, New Delhi. With over five years of experience in digital journalism and multimedia production, he shared valuable insights on navigating the media industry and building a career in journalism.
The session proved to be an engaging and enriching experience for students, offering practical industry perspectives.

The School of Communications is organizing an insightful seminar titled Dignity at Work: A Discussion on Prevention of Sexual Harassment.
Organized by the Women Students Welfare Committee, the session aims to build awareness about the importance of safe, respectful, and equitable professional environments. As students prepare to enter the workforce, understanding rights, responsibilities, and institutional safeguards becomes essential.
The seminar will be delivered by Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, Assistant Professor I at Law, XIM University, who will share key insights on recognizing, preventing, and addressing sexual harassment in professional spaces, while also discussing the broader legal framework of workplace dignity and accountability.
Because a truly progressive workplace begins with awareness, respect, and the courage to uphold dignity for everyone.

From Internship to Industry Experience!
Rajat Topno, a 3rd-year BSc (Hons) Mass Communication student at the School of Communications, XIM University , completed his internship at Tamada Media as a Cinematographer and Editor. During the internship, he gained hands-on experience in visual storytelling, shoots, and editing while working with a professional media team.
Building on the skills he developed at the School of Communications, from storytelling to understanding visual media tools, he was able to apply his classroom learning in a real industry environment.
His industry mentor appreciated his work, highlighting his creativity, confidence, strong visual sense, and clear storytelling ability. This experience further strengthened his passion for cinematography and editing while giving him valuable real-world exposure.

The School of Communications, XIM University, Bhubaneswar, successfully hosted its Academic Interface Talk – 3 on February 7, 2026, on the topic “From Script to Screen: Travelling through the Vision of the Location Guru.”
The session was led by Mr. Natarajan Ramji, a renowned film location scout and Founder-Director of Travel Master, who brought with him decades of industry experience having traveled to over 140 countries. Through engaging storytelling, he shared his remarkable journey from starting in the film industry in 1980 to collaborating with legendary filmmakers and actors like S.S. Rajamouli, Rajinikanth, and Chiranjeevi on global projects.
The talk offered valuable perspectives on the crucial role of location scouting in filmmaking, the behind-the-scenes process of international shoots, and the importance of resilience and storytelling in building a successful career. Overall, the session proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience for the students of Mass Communication and Media Studies.
