We at KIIT celebrated the timeless beauty of India’s handloom heritage through KAANCHI 2026, organised by the Kzarshion (Fashion) Society of KIIT Student Activity Centre, where tradition met contemporary fashion.

Inspired by “The Rajgharana – Dynasties of India,” the showcase brought together 15 teams from KIIT and East Zone colleges, transforming indigenous textiles, traditional craftsmanship, and royal aesthetics into striking runway narratives.

More than a fashion showcase, KAANCHI was a celebration of our weavers, our heritage, and the creativity of a new generation committed to keeping India’s textile legacy alive.

We at our School of Fashion Technology proudly celebrated KRITANTUJA 2026, commemorating the 12th National Handloom Day, by bringing together tradition, craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.

The two-day celebration at Campus 18 featured an exhibition showcasing the artistry of 20+ artisans from renowned handloom and handicraft clusters across Odisha, along with an insightful panel discussion on “Handicraft and Handloom: Heritage, Innovation and Sustainability.”

From loom weaving and hand embroidery to tie-dye, the live workshops offered a hands-on experience of India’s rich textile traditions while highlighting their relevance in contemporary fashion.

Celebrating the hands that weave our heritage and the ideas that carry it forward.

At KIIT, we take pride in celebrating the artisans whose hands have kept India's handloom tradition alive for generations.

From Odisha's own Sambalpuri ikat to Bomkai weaves, National Handloom Day is our reminder that behind every thread lies a story of skill, patience and heritage. We honour the weavers who continue to turn yarn into art.

We were delighted to host an engaging Collective Social Learning (CSL) Workshop at the KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM), led by internationally acclaimed sustainability practitioner Mr Greg Bruce, OAM, recipient of the Order of Australia Medal.

Bringing together nearly 180 participants, including professors and international students from the City University of New York (CUNY), alongside students and faculty from our Schools of Rural Management, Civil Engineering, Design, and Architecture & Planning, the workshop became a vibrant platform for collaboration, innovation, and shared learning.

Through immersive and interactive sessions, we explored pathways towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. Faculty and students participated as equals, exchanging ideas, identifying opportunities and challenges, and applying systems thinking to real-world sustainability issues.

The workshop inspired participants to commit to meaningful personal actions while proposing collaborative initiatives that KIIT and CUNY can jointly undertake to advance sustainability and strengthen global partnerships. The exchange of diverse perspectives across cultures and disciplines reinforced the value of collective learning and responsible leadership.

The programme concluded with an informal networking session, fostering new international connections and laying the foundation for future collaborations. We remain committed to creating transformative learning experiences that empower our students to become responsible global changemakers.
