ICBBI served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on strengthening inclusive practices across educational and rehabilitation settings by bringing together educators, researchers, rehabilitation professionals, policymakers, and community stakeholders. The conference promoted collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based practices that support equitable learning opportunities for all learners while encouraging conversations that shape the future of inclusive education.
We were honoured to invite Prof. Simon Thompson, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Sussex UK, for Keynote Address – 1 on the topic: “Does Differentiation Really Mean Different? Rethinking Inclusive Pedagogy.” Through his keynote, Prof. Thompson reflected on the need to move beyond the traditional understanding of differentiation as simply creating “different” learning experiences for different learners. Instead, he emphasised building inclusive classrooms where accessibility, participation, shared learning, and belonging become central to the educational process. His keynote encouraged educators to critically rethink existing pedagogical approaches and recognise diversity as an essential foundation of meaningful education.
The ideas presented in the session strongly resonated with the vision and framework of SEN Globe, KiiT International School, where inclusive education is approached through structured support systems, learner-centred strategies, collaborative practices, and individualised learning pathways. The keynote closely aligned with the institution’s educational philosophy, intervention mapping, and inclusive classroom models that aim to ensure every learner is meaningfully engaged, supported, and empowered within mainstream educational spaces.
