Job Description:
The Career Counsellor will be responsible for providing comprehensive career guidance and support to students. This role involves assisting students in identifying career goals, developing career plans, and preparing for employment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of current job market trends and a passion for helping students achieve their professional aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and group career counselling sessions to students.
Assist students in identifying their interests, skills, and career goals.
Develop and implement career development programs and workshops.
Guide students in resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
Coordinate with academic departments to integrate career planning into the academic experience.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment trends, job market demands, and industry opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and other stakeholders to create internship and job placement opportunities.
Utilize career assessment tools and software to support students in their career decision-making process.
Track and report on students’ career development progress and outcomes.
Stay informed about educational and career advancement opportunities and share relevant information with students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
At least 2-3 years of experience in career counselling, academic advising, or a related role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiarity with career assessment tools and resources.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proactive and empathetic approach to counselling.
Knowledge of current job market trends and employer expectations.
Proficiency in using career services software and databases.
