Nursing education department of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT - Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, organized an Audio-Visual Aids Exhibition on 15th September 2026 as a practical and creative learning activity of 1st year M.Sc. Nursing students. The exhibition aimed to provide students with an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge of instructional media and demonstrate their creativity, presentation skills, and understanding of different audio-visual aids used in nursing education and health teaching. The exhibition was arranged under different categories of teaching aids, including three-dimensional aids, activity aids, graphic aids, printed aids, and projected aids. The active participation of all the groups reflected the students’ creativity, teamwork, effort, and interest in learning. The faculty members namely Mrs. Minati Das, Asso. Prof. MSN; Mr. Chandan Pradhan, Asso. Prof. MSN; and Mrs. Rojalin Das, Asso. Prof. OBG guided the students in preparing, organizing, and presenting their assigned instructional media.

The exhibition was inaugurated and evaluated by Mrs. Kalyani Rath, Vice Principal, KINS; Mr. Asokan R, HOD MSN; Dr. Anasuya Pattanayak, HOD of CoHN. Their presence and words of encouragement motivated the students to actively participate and showcase their creativity and skills through the exhibition. The judges visited the different exhibits, interacted with the participating students, and assessed the presentations based on creativity, content, organization, presentation, demonstration, and educational relevance. As part of the exhibition, eight groups of students participated and displayed a wide variety of traditional, non-projected, projected, audio, and technology-based instructional media.

Each group comprising of 4 students displayed and demonstrated A.V Aids as follows:
• Group A- Tape Recorder, Pamphlet, Graph, Whiteboard and Flannel Board.
• Group B-Handout, Booklet, Picture and Photography, Radio, Chain Chart and Slide Projector.
• Group C- Transparency, Posters, Public Address System, LCD Projector and Model.
• Group D- Diorama, Filmstrip, Cartoon, Motion Pictures and Maps.
• Group E- Chart, Flipchart, Satellite TV, Television and Folksong.
• Group F- Puppet, Specimen, Teleconferencing, Video and DVD Player.
• Group G- Flash Card, Leaflet, Bulletin Board and Epidiascope.
• Group H- Blackboard, Types of Charts, Talking Doll and Globe.

Along with the exhibition, the students also prepared and submitted an Audio-Visual Aids File as part of the academic activity. The file documented the different types of teaching aids, their purposes, uses, principles, and other relevant information covered during the activity. The preparation of the file helped students organize their learning systematically and provided a record of the work completed for the exhibition. The exhibition not only provided an opportunity to display their work but also helped them gain practical experience in preparing and using instructional media for effective nursing education and health teaching.

Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences is an integral part KIIT - Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and follows strict anti-ragging rule and regulations laid down by KIIT University & Indian Nursing Council. The institution is firmly committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Strict enforcement of anti-ragging regulations is ensured at all times. 16th batch of B.Sc. Nursing & 14th batch of M.Sc. Nursing students have joined KINS from 6th September 2026. After 1 week of rigorous orientation schedule the students have started with their regular classes. Since past few days the anti-ragging monitoring team comprising of Prof. R. Asokan, Mr. Chandan Pradhan, Mrs. Purnima Sahoo Dr. Debajani Sahoo & Mrs. Prativa Ray has been constantly on their toes to disseminate anti-ragging awareness among B.Sc. 2nd semester, 4th semester & 6th semester, GNM 1st yr, 2nd yr & 3rd yr & M.Sc. 1st & 2nd yr students of KINS.
Objectives of this activity carried out was as follows:
• To sensitize students about the negative impact of ragging on newly joined students and the institution.
• To familiarize students with the Anti-Ragging Laws and UGC regulations.
• To encourage mutual respect, cooperation, and a sense of belonging among senior & junior students
• To assure newly admitted B.Sc. Nursing 2026-27 batch students of a safe and supportive environment in the college.

KINS upholds a zero-tolerance approach to ragging and related activities. The Monitoring Committee is ensuring prevention, vigilance, and timely action so every 1st year student can pursue education in a secure and supportive environment. The 1st session commenced on 10-09-2026 for B.Sc. 6th Semester students at 4PM with a welcome address by Dr. Debajani Sahoo, Asso. Prof. MHN Dept., who introduced the Anti-Ragging committee members, to the new entrants. Later Mrs. Purnima Sahoo, Professor CHN Dept., emphasized the importance of discipline and mutual respect in professional education highlighting the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and the importance of maintaining a positive and cooperative learning environment. A detailed explanation on “Understanding Ragging and Its Consequences” was given by Prof. R. Asokan, Professor & HOD MSN Dept. and Mr. Chandan Pradhan, Asso. Prof. MSN Dept. The talk covered: meaning and forms of ragging (physical, verbal, psychological, cyber, etc.), Legal provisions under the UGC Regulations and Anti-Ragging Act given by KIIT Deemed to be University, steps to report ragging incidents through the college Anti-Ragging Cell and National Helpline (1800-180-5522), Counselling and support mechanisms available to victims. The session also included a short motivational talk and an interactive Q&A session, where students shared their views on fostering harmony and friendship in the campus. Similar subsequent sessions were also conducted for B.Sc. 2nd Sem students on 10-09-2026 at 5 PM, for B.Sc. 4th Sem on 11-09-2026 at 11 AM, for GNM 1st Yr on 11-09-2026 at 1 PM, for GNM 3rd Yr on 11-09-2026 at 5 PM, for GNM 2nd Yr on 12-09-2026 at 1 PM and for M.Sc. 1st & 2nd Yr on 12-09-2026 at 5 PM respectively. Surprise hostel visits of both boys & girls these senior batches were also conducted to check the implementation of the anti-ragging rules and regulations and the wardens and supervisors were accordingly instructed to be vigilant and report to the members.
Anti-ragging monitoring team successfully instilled awareness among all senior students about the gravity of ragging and the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment. Students pledged to uphold the values of discipline, dignity, and mutual respect. The Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme was an informative and impactful session that effectively conveyed the message of zero tolerance towards ragging. It served as an important step in ensuring that the institution remains a safe, inclusive, and student-friendly environment.

Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT Deemed to be University, conducted the Orientation Programme for newly admitted B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester and M.Sc. Nursing 1st Year students (2026–2027 batch) from September 7 to 12, 2026.
The orientation programme commenced with University Videos and Virtual Orientation, which provided students with an introduction to the university and its academic and extracurricular environment. This was followed by an informative session on anti-ragging, college rules and regulations, and the POSH Act, sensitizing students about a safe, respectful and disciplined campus environment
Students were introduced to various campus facilities through guided campus visits, including the Main Building, Blood Bank, KSS & KCC, Oxygen Plant, Sewage Plant, Medical College, KISS and Central Library.
The programme also included Staff Orientation, providing students with an opportunity to become familiar with the teaching and non-teaching faculty and understand the academic support available to them. Students participated in mentor–mentee interactions, where they had the opportunity to interact with their mentors and establish a supportive academic relationship
To encourage creativity, interaction and holistic development, students participated in quiz and essay activities as well as sports activities at the Indoor Stadium. These activities provided opportunities for students to interact with their peers and develop team spirit beyond the classroom
The final day of the programme focused on academic and professional orientation. The students were given an overview of the syllabus and an introduction to nursing, followed by an orientation on the SNA and TNAI programmes. A counselling session was also conducted to provide guidance and support to the newly admitted students. The programme concluded with a mentor–mentee meeting, strengthening the connection between students and their mentors.

The Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT- DU), successfully organized its annual NSS Orientation Programme on 3rd September 2026. The event was grandly executed at the KIMS Auditorium, Campus - 5, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The primary objective of the programme was to orient the newly admitted batch of GNM and B.Sc. 1st-year nursing students into the operational framework of the National Service Scheme (NSS). Additionally, the forum served to celebrate the dedicated contributions of outgoing leadership, mark the farewell ceremony of Core Team Members along with Tutor farewells, acknowledge the milestones of senior volunteers, and
foster a deep sense of social responsibility and community service among the youth.
The proceedings commenced precisely at 2:00 PM with the formal welcoming of distinguished guests and university dignitaries to the dais. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the propagation of knowledge and auspicious beginnings, after which the guests were formally honored with the presentation of floral bouquets. To instill a deep sense of patriotism, civic duty, and community identity, the entire assembly stood in unison for the consecutive, solemn renditions of the National Anthem and the NSS Anthem. This inaugural segment reached a vibrant and welcoming conclusion with a beautifully choreographed Welcome Song and Dance performance presented by a talented group of KINS students.
The academic and leadership addresses began with an inspiring welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Niyati Das (Principal, KINS, KIIT-DU), who highlighted how nursing ethics and patient care seamlessly blend with the compassionate, service-oriented philosophy of the NSS. Vital structural insights into grass-roots community work and regional impact were then provided by Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das (NSS Liaison Officer, Nodal Officer UBA, KIIT-DU) and Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout (Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau). Furthermore, Dr. Kajal Parashar (Former NSS Programme Coordinator) and Dr. Samresh Mishra (Director General, Student Services, KIIT-DU) shared their extensive field experiences, collectively emphasizing how structured student volunteerism actively drives large-scale, positive social transformations. The orientation benefited significantly from the presence of eminent leadership figures
who added immense institutional value to the occasion. Mr. Ajit Kumar Kushwaha (Regional Director, NSS), attending as the Chief Guest, addressed the congregation and provided critical guidance regarding regional development goals, national civic expectations, and the vital role of youth in nation-building.
Prof. Dr. Debasish Bandyopadhyay (Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU), as the Guest of Honour, delivered a powerful and resonant message centered on the core NSS motto, 'Not Me But You', profoundly urging the incoming cohort of nursing students to remain humble, empathetic, and dedicated change makers in society.
Following the formal addresses, the programme transitioned into a poignant and celebratory phase dedicated to acknowledging institutional transitions, leadership handovers, and excellence within the bureau. As part of these institutional changes, existing Programme Officer Ms. Jayashree Pradhan extended a warm and formal welcome to the newly appointed Programme Officer, Ms. Sarita Marandi, marking a significant milestone for the KINS NSS unit. Under their combined leadership and guidance, a
heartfelt farewell ceremony was then conducted to honor the outstanding service of the outgoing core team members and senior volunteers. Special recognition and farewell presentations were formallyextended to Mr. Debasis Pradhan (Tutor) and Ms. Smruti Rekha Das (Tutor) for their years of selfless community mentorship and exemplary guidance to the bureau. Following these presentations, the New NSS Core Team was officially introduced to the audience to formally assume their fresh organizational
responsibilities, and the dedication of past batches was brought to light as the Best Volunteer Prize was proudly awarded to an exceptional senior student. The final segment of the day focused on structural commitment and vibrant cultural expressions, starting
with a solemn Oath Taking Ceremony where all participants and incoming volunteers collectively recited the NSS Pledge. This serious note of dedication smoothly transitioned into high-energy entertainment, featuring a meticulously curated Cultural Programme consisting of two group dances and two solo
performances that showcased the immense creative talents and cultural diversity of the KINS student community. The event officially drew to a highly successful close with a sincere Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Sarita Marandi (Programme Officer, KINS), followed by the proud, collective singing of the institutional KIIT Anthem, concluding the day’s proceedings precisely at 6:00 PM.
