🇮🇳 Celebrating the 80th Independence Day at IIMT, Bhubaneswar🇮🇳
The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great pride, patriotism and enthusiasm at Interscience Institute of Management & Technology (IIMT), on 15th August 2026.
The celebration commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the National Anthem and National Song, and a gathering of students, faculty members, and staff. The campus echoed with the spirit of patriotism as everyone came together to honour the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and celebrate the remarkable journey of our great nation.
Chairman’s Address – Prof. (Dr.) Srikanta Patnaik
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Srikanta Patnaik, Chairman, spoke on the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 —a vision of building a developed, self-reliant, inclusive and progressive India by 2047. He emphasised that the youth have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of the nation through quality education, innovation, skills, discipline, responsibility and social commitment.
He encouraged students to become responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully towards the making of a stronger and more developed India.
Director’s Address – Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev Kar
In his inspiring address, Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev Kar, Director, called upon everyone to make a solemn pledge to preserve our hard-earned Independence and Democracy.
He emphasised that if India is to become a truly developed nation, we must be willing to transform our character, culture, work ethic and social values. Referring to the remarkable progress of countries such as South Korea and Singapore, he encouraged everyone to learn from their discipline, commitment, efficiency and strong work culture.
He highlighted that achieving the lofty goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires a fundamental change in our approach to life and work. In his powerful words, we must “shun the culture of EATING and CHEATING” and instead embrace honesty, integrity, discipline, hard work, accountability and dedication.
He urged students and every member of society to understand that nation-building is not merely the responsibility of the Government—it is a collective responsibility. Every citizen must contribute through sincere work, ethical conduct and a strong sense of duty.
Tribute to Sri Aurobindo
On this auspicious occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev Kar also paid his heartfelt tribute to Sri Aurobindo, the great Saint, Philosopher, Spiritual Thinker and Patriot of India, whose birth anniversary falls on 15th August.
He offered crores of pranam to Sri Aurobindo, a legendary and proud son of Mother India, whose life, philosophy and vision continue to inspire generations.
🎙️ Dean Academics’ Address – Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Prusty
Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Prusty, Dean Academics, emphasized the importance of punctuality, discipline and commitment to duty.
He highlighted that every member of the IIMT family—whether a student, faculty member or staff—has a specific responsibility to perform. He urged everyone to be punctual, disciplined and sincere in carrying out their respective duties. He stressed that institutional excellence can only be achieved when each individual performs their responsibility with dedication and accountability.
The celebration was a proud reminder that freedom comes with responsibility. As we move towards Viksit Bharat 2047, let us pledge to contribute through knowledge, discipline, innovation, integrity and dedicated service to the nation.
