Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, KIIT School of Mass Communication, along with seven NSS volunteers from KSMC, participated in a training programme on the Odisha Right to Public Services Act held on 19 September 2026 at Campus 3, KIIT Deemed to be University.

The programme featured an address by Shri Jagadananda, social activist and Co-founder, CYSD, who spoke to the NSS volunteers on Dreaming – Learning – Doing Effectively – Amplifying (Giving). Ms. Sarita Kanungo, CMGI, GA & PG Department, Government of Odisha, also addressed the participants on the Odisha Right to Public Services Act.

Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, Programme Coordinator, NSS Bureau, KIIT, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash proposed the vote of thanks.

The KSMC NSS volunteers who participated were Ainesh, Dhriti, Meera, Muskan, Rajesh, Suchiban and Vighnesh, who actively participated in the training programme.

KIIT School of Mass Communication, KIIT School of Film & Media Sciences, and KIIT School of Fashion Technology hosted a special Film Promotion & Interaction Programme for the Odia film DAHAAN.

The event welcomed Mr Anupam Patnaik, the director, and the DAHAAN team to Campus 7, KIIT, for an afternoon dedicated to cinema, interaction, and student engagement. It included a movie promotion, speeches by university officials, guest felicitation, and a lively discussion with the director and team.

This interaction gave students a valuable chance to connect with film industry professionals and join a dialogue on creating and promoting modern Odia cinema. It was a memorable afternoon that united students, filmmakers, and the academic community through their shared love of cinema.

Congratulations to Ms Simran Rout, PhD scholar, and Dr Anurag Sahu, Assistant Professor, on being chosen to present their research paper titled “Whose Knowledge Counts? Public Voice, Epistemic Trust, and the Governance of Agricultural Communication in Tribal India” at the 32nd AMIC Annual International Conference in Manila, Philippines.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Souptik Garai, CEO & Founder, Mark & Muse, and Senior Specialist, Marketing & Communications, Udhyam Learning Foundation, for a Guest Talk on “Re-imagining FAILURE.”

With seven years of experience in communications and marketing, Souptik brings experience across storytelling, education and nonprofit communications. He is also a Gold Medalist in Communication from the University of Hyderabad and a national short filmmaking awardee from the Ministry of Education.

KSMC Students Present Live Project for DC Handicrafts at CIFA

As part of their Live Project Assignment with DC (Handicrafts) for the Advertising Practice and Production course, a team of six 3rd-year students from KIIT School of Mass Communication (KSMC) — one Indian and five international students — attended a one-day regional workshop on Producer Companies and Implementation of DC Handicrafts Schemes at ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar.

The team presented their creative outreach strategies for Raghurajpur, Dandasahi & Pattachitra, aimed at promoting Odisha’s traditional art through modern communication.

Their core idea — a 20-episode reel series divided into four chapters:
The Heart | The Living Canvas | Beyond the Canvas | Take the Story With You
— showcases the heritage, artisans, craftsmanship, stories, and global relevance of Odisha’s living traditions.

The presentation was well-appreciated by participants and experts, who encouraged the students to take the campaign forward. A great example of learning by doing and using digital storytelling to preserve cultural heritage.
