Somany tiles ( ) collaborated with JD Institute Bhubaneswar ( ) to repurpose waste tiles to create art installations using discarded tiles.
This initiative aims to highlight the issue of tile wastage encouraging students to showcase their creativity while promoting sustainable practices in design.
Students worked in groups to come up with unique product ideas.The final installations came to life within a time frame of approx 2 weeks.

Fashion design students are encouraged to experiment and innovate while keeping market demands in mind. JD Institute offers the latest technology in its fashion design courses to prepare students for industry. Facilities include single-stitch sewing machines and multi-thread sergers, industry-standard pattern drafting tables, a variety of standard and custom-made dress forms, and steam irons. The institute’s graphics lab features individual work stations with connectivity to color laser printers and scanners, software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, and online access to fashion resources and the Internet.
The concentration in fashion design emphasizes skills in design, fashion sketching, forecasting, promotion, and presentation while providing a strong technical background in pattern making, draping and sewing. Students also gain an awareness of the aesthetics of fashion design. Each trimester, graduating students design and present a finished collection at the JD Annual Design Awards. Presentation skills are judged by a faculty panel, and fellow students, staff, and faculty select a best collection. Students also develop a professional portfolio geared to their individual career goals. Fashion students are also given the opportunity to share their creativity by participating in design competitions and to show their work at the student art shows held throughout the year.
The fashion design program merges today’s latest computer software with an applied knowledge in garment construction. Students are prepared for the many platforms of a career in fashion design. Begin your studies now at one of top schools for fashion design in India.
