Partition Horrors Remembrance Day August 14

The Partition of India is a painful story of unprecedented human displacement and forced migration. How the era of years of old coexistence came to an abrupt and dramatic end. In this inhuman episode recorded in 1947 , about 2 crore people were affected. The caravan of evacuees ranged from 10 to 27 miles long. In the midst of rain, hunger, and riots, the displaced had to lose their lives History teaches lessons, not to reverse it, but to prevent it from repeating. “This day will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity and ill will, but it will also strengthen unity, social harmony and human sensibilities”.

NISAR is the first satellite mission to collect radar data in two microwave bandwidth regions, called the L-band and the S-band, to measure changes in our planet's surface less than a centimeter across. This allows the mission to observe a wide range of Earth processes, from the flow rates of glaciers and ice sheets to the dynamics of earthquakes and volcanoes.

NISAR is planned to launch in 2024 from India’s Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India, into a near-polar orbit. NASA requires a minimum of three years of global science operations with the L-band radar, and ISRO requires five years of operations with the S-band radar over specified target areas in India and the Southern Ocean.

If everyone could look inside your house to see what you are wearing, what you are cooking, which movie you are watching or who lives with you then you won’t feel comfortable. This is the reason there are windows with curtains and gates with locks. This goes the same for privacy in the digital realm.
The day encourages everyone to own their privacy responsibilities in order to create a culture of privacy.

Happy republic day 🇮🇳 🇮🇳 🇮🇳
While Babasaheb Ambedkar and others gave us a map and a moral framework, the task of walking that path remains our responsibility. We have largely remained true to their expectations, and yet we realise that much remains to be done to realise Gandhiji’s ideal of ‘Sarvodaya’, the upliftment of all. Yet, the progress we have made on all fronts is encouraging.

Republic Day provides an opportunity to reaffirm our faith in the age-old civilizational values enshrined in our Constitution. It is also a solemn occasion to recall the contributions of all the eminent freedom fighters, great thinkers and unsung heroes whose sacrifice has laid the foundations to our Republic as we know it today. On this occasion, let us celebrate our achievements and rededicate ourselves towards the endeavour of nation-building with renewed vigour.

NVD 2023 marks 71 successful years of elections in India. Election Commission of India is celebrating 13th National Voters’ Day on 25th January 2023. The theme for this year’s NVD, ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ is dedicated to voters which conveys individual’s feeling and aspiration towards participation in the electoral process through power of their vote.

NVD celebration reminds us of our Constitutional Right of universal adult suffrage granted to every Indian citizen irrespective of religion, caste, community, language, region or socio economic considerations. NVD Celebration is a very strategic and important initiative of the Election Commission of India that sets the tone for the yearlong focused activities in for enhancing electoral participation on ECI’s essential premise of ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’.

Since 2011, National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year, all across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the National Voters' Day is also used to facilitate enrolment of voters, specially the newly eligible young voters. New voters are felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the NVD functions held across the country.

To invest in people, prioritize education.

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

Let’s deliver education systems that can support equal societies, dynamic economies and the limitless dreams of every learner in the world.

24/01/2023

Today, 244 million children and youth are out of school; 771 million adults are illiterate; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable. It's time to transform education.
The fifth International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2023 under the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”. Building on the global momentum generated by the UN Transforming Education Summit in September 2022, this year’s Day will call for maintaining strong political mobilization around education and chart the way to translate commitments and global initiatives into action. Education must be prioritized to accelerate progress towards all the Sustainable Development Goals against the backdrop of a global recession, growing inequalities and the climate crisis.
