Student Founded Voluntary Organisation Since 2012 Karunya started its projects with schools for tribal children who lacked basic amenities.
Karunya is a voluntary student organisation founded by three students from KIIT University- Snehadeep Kayet, Tatsat Singh and Souvick Das when they were in their first year of engineering. Karunya basically was the name of the team which these guys formed when they participated in a documentary shoot event based on social issues. Their documentary not only got short listed among the top three but
also this motivated them to initiate and continue the good work which they had started. Karunya organised many re creational events for tribal and under privileged school kids like painting competitions, plantation campaigns, on stage drama based on social issues, quizzes etc. The members of Karunya with their constant dedication also participated in projects like Campaign 'Smile' which was organised in the state's largest school for special children. Karunya started from three but today has more than 50 active members in its projects. With many Model UN Association as social partners, Karunya's projects get better and better. This is something which all the members of Karunya believe "Life is not just about sitting in cafes. fancy houses and luxuries. its about bringing a :) to a face which probably lost the hope of getting it back"
