Training Programme on Legislative Drafting | KIIT School of Law

The Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS), in collaboration with KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar, organised a two-day Training Programme on Legislative Drafting on 18–19 September 2026, for students, research scholars and faculty members of KIIT School of Law.

The programme offered an enriching academic platform to explore the principles, techniques and contemporary dimensions of legislative drafting, with sessions led by distinguished resource persons:

🔹 Prof. (Dr.) B. T. Kaul — Former Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy
🔹 Prof. (Dr.) Asad Malik — Chief Proctor & Professor of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi
🔹 Ms. Savi Nagpal — Advocate, Supreme Court of India
🔹 Shri Saakshar Duggal — Advocate, High Court of Delhi

The sessions covered key aspects of legislative drafting, constitutional provisions, structure and format of legislation, judicial interpretation, administrative law, and emerging dimensions including Artificial Intelligence and legislative drafting.

The programme provided participants with valuable opportunities to connect academic learning with practical and contemporary perspectives on drafting, interpreting and developing legislation.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026 | Mega Blood Donation Camp

As part of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, the NSS Bureau, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, along with the NSS KSOL Unit and NSS Biotechnology Unit, participated in a Mega Blood Donation Camp at IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar.

More than 200 NSS volunteers actively participated in and contributed to the blood donation drive, reaffirming the spirit of voluntary service, compassion and social responsibility.
A meaningful initiative where every contribution can make a difference.

Celebrating Alumni Achievement | Sameek Shee

KIIT School of Law proudly celebrates Mr. Sameek Shee, Batch 2013–2018, currently serving as Legal Manager at IDFC FIRST Bank, overseeing legal matters across West Bengal and Assam, for his outstanding professional achievement in the bank’s Debt Management function.

Sameek has been recognised among the Top 100 Performers Pan India for achieving more than 100% of the assigned performance target during the respective quarters.

He received this recognition for Q3 and Q4 of FY 2025–26, as well as Q1 of FY 2026–27.

KIIT School of Law congratulates Sameek Shee on this achievement and wishes him continued success and excellence in his professional journey.

The Konclave on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance : Law and Policy witnessed an engaging panel discussion on “The Future of Financial Law in India - Need for Reform and Regulatory Strengthening”

The discussion was moderated by Dr Sudipta De Sarkar, Dean (IE) and brought together distinguished legal and industry experts who shared valuable perspectives on the evolving landscape of financial law, emerging regulatory challenges, and the need for stronger and more adaptive legal frameworks in India.

Legal Awareness, Women’s Empowerment

The Legal Services Clinic, KIIT School of Law organised a Legal Awareness Camp for Women at Nalipada-Arjunapur Panchayat, Khordha District.

Women from the Panchayat and neighbouring villages participated in discussions on women’s legal rights, protection, legal safeguards, and access to justice. Student volunteers actively engaged with the community to promote legal literacy at the grassroots level

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Lokanath Mohapatra, Mr. Shashank Nande, Dr. Pragnya Parimita Ray, and Ms. Amrita Bal.

Konclave on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance: Law & Policy

The Industry Engagement Cell, KIIT School of Law, KIIT-DU, hosted a thought-provoking Konclave on “Banking, Financial Services and Insurance: Law and Policy”, bringing together leading voices from the legal, banking, financial services and insurance sectors to explore the evolving regulatory landscape in India.

The Konclave commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an introduction to the theme by Dr. Sudipta De Sarkar, Dean (IE, SA & Admissions).

Prof. (Dr.) Raju K. D., Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU, welcomed the distinguished delegates and shared his reflections on the significance of the theme and its relevance to the evolving BFSI sector.

The inaugural session was further enriched by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) N. L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus, KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU; and Prof. (Dr.) Kumar Mohanty, Director, KIIT School of Management, who shared valuable institutional and academic perspectives on legal education, industry engagement and evolving policy frameworks.

Mr. Nilanjan Sinha, General Counsel, ICICI Bank, delivered the keynote address, highlighting changing dimensions of financial regulation and the importance of robust legal frameworks.

The programme was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring leading legal professionals from Bandhan Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, HDFC ERGO General Insurance Co. Ltd., and L&T Finance.

The Konclave provided a valuable platform for dialogue on regulatory evolution, emerging challenges and the need for stronger legal and policy frameworks in India’s rapidly transforming financial sector.

Technical Sessions | Panel Discussion on Early Release of Prisoners

The Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Administration, KIIT School of Law, conducted Technical Sessions I & II as part of the panel discussion on “Humane and Time-Bound Mechanism for Early Release of Prisoners in the State of Odisha.”

The sessions brought together distinguished experts from legal academia, advocacy and policing, featuring Dr. Rose Varghese, Prof. Lokanath Mohapatra, Prof. Udit Narayan Mishra, Dr. Prabhu Prasanna Behera, Mrs. Shivani Das, Mr. Rajat Panda, Mr. Akash Chandra Sahoo, Dr. Paromita Chattoraj, and Dr. Suman Dash Bhattamishra.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr Sarvesh K Shahi, HOD and event being coordinated by Dr Susmita Priyadarshini Mishra and Prof Pritam Kumar Samal.

The deliberations explored key dimensions of prison administration, early release mechanisms, legal and institutional frameworks, rehabilitation and criminal justice reform, with emphasis on humane, transparent and effective approaches to prisoner release.

Panel Discussion on Humane and Time-Bound Early Release of Prisoners

The Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Administration, KIIT School of Law, inaugurated a significant academic panel discussion on “Humane and Time-Bound Mechanism for Early Release of Prisoners in the State of Odisha” on 11 September 2026.

The inaugural session was graced by Hon’ble Shri Justice Biswanath Rath, Former Judge, High Court of Orissa and Chairperson, Odisha State Law Commission, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Raju K. D., Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University; Prof. (Dr.) N. L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus; and Mr. Lokanath Mohapatra, Director, Legal Services.

The presence of the distinguished dignitaries set the stage for meaningful academic deliberations on prison reforms, early release mechanisms, dignity, rehabilitation, and criminal justice administration.
