The forests are a little quieter today. India has lost one of its most courageous voices in ecological science.

We mourn the passing of Dr. Madhav Gadgil, the "People’s Scientist", who dedicated his life to the soil, the forests, and the communities of the Western Ghats. He didn't just study nature from a lab; he walked the hills, listened to the local tribes, and fought to ensure that conservation never came at the cost of social justice.

Rest in power, Dr. Gadgil. May we carry forward your vision of a greener, more equitable world.

"The Daya Nadi is not just a river but a cultural pillar and a lifeline to the people that it serves."

As we convene to the 11th Annual Sustainability Summit, we have to address the fact that this crucial ecosystem is under duress as a result of agricultural runoff, untreated waste discharges and limited monitoring.
This project, taken up by the students of the School of Sustainability, XIM University, utilizes GIS mapping, specialized outreach programs, laboratory analysis and community surveys in order to overcome the divide between the distressed condition of the river and its strong future.

We are creating a future
where development can coexist with the ecosystem through a special purpose visualization and monitoring dashboard.

This project aims to not just spark a dialogue, but pave a roadmap for restoration.
