Hurray! We heard our teacher
cannot be with us today.
Instead, we'll have a substitute.
(We'll make her earn her pay.)

Michael will throw spit wads,
and Brandon will eat chalk.
Patrick will poke David,
and all of us will talk.

We smiled and laughed with pleasure
as these thoughts filled every head,
until we found our teacher
sent the principal instead!

The unrequited romantic crushes, chronic embarrassment, desperate struggles for popularity, sexual awakening, parental pressure and, above all else, competition – social, athletic, academic. That was all about it.

No matter where you go, school friends will be always special. As we transitioned from school to college, new college life and friends never came at the expense of school friends.

"Happiness is being with an old friend after a long time and feeling like nothing has changed."
