A Triumph for Robotics Club MANIT at NXP AIM India 2025
We are proud to announce that our team from Robotics Club MANIT has won the prestigious AI Arjuna Award at the NXP AIM India 2025 competition—one of the most challenging and industry-oriented robotics events in the country.
This year’s theme pushed teams to go beyond conventional robotics workflows and tackle real industrial automation problems. The challenge involved:
• Mapping a complex warehouse environment
• Detecting objects placed on multi-level shelves
• Integrating perception, navigation, and decision-making into a single autonomous pipeline
• Ensuring consistent performance in simulation and on real hardware under tight deadlines
Our journey began with the Regional Finale, a simulation-based round where teams across India competed to design a complete warehouse-mapping and shelf-object-detection system. Clearing this stage required both technical depth and strategic problem-solving, and it set the foundation for what came next.
The Grand Finale was where the true test awaited. NXP provided each qualified team with the MR-B3RB industrial buggy kit powered by the NavQ platform. This introduced challenges such as real-time ROS2 integration, hardware–software synchronization, high-speed perception optimization, sensor calibration, and managing system stability under real-world conditions. The transition from simulation to hardware required extensive debugging, rapid iteration, and precise teamwork.
Despite the difficulties—from communication bottlenecks to hardware inconsistencies—our team remained focused and adaptive. Weeks of rigorous testing and collaborative effort resulted in a robust, high-performance solution that stood out during evaluation, ultimately earning us the AI Arjuna Award.
This achievement reflects the dedication and skill of our members, the collaborative culture of Robotics Club MANIT, and the value of hands-on, industry-aligned learning.
We extend our gratitude to NXP Semiconductors for providing students with the opportunity to work on advanced robotics platforms and encouraging innovation at a national level.
This milestone strengthens our resolve to continue pushing bo

The Robotics Club of MANIT Bhopal successfully conducted Automax 4.0, a two-day technical workshop held on October 11–12, bringing together over 300 enthusiastic students from MANIT and various colleges and schools across Bhopal.
Day 1 was dedicated to building a strong foundation in hardware and electronics. Participants were introduced to the basics of electronics, circuit design, and sensor interfacing through engaging sessions and live explanations. The day’s highlight was the hardware project showcase, where club members demonstrated their in-house innovations, including RC planes, drones, RC cars, and robotic systems, offering participants a close look at real-world robotics in action.
Day 2 focused on the software and intelligence behind modern robotic systems. Sessions on ROS, OpenCV, and Machine Learning provided valuable insights into autonomous and vision-based robotics. This was followed by demonstrations of software-driven projects, culminating in a live showcase of a ROS2-based autonomous buggy, featuring real-time visualization, navigation, SLAM mapping, and path planning.
The workshop concluded with an engaging hands-on gesture-controlled robotic car project, where participants translated hand movements into real-time robotic motion. Throughout the activity, Robotics Club members actively mentored participants, guiding them through sensor interfacing, control logic, coding, and debugging. This practical experience perfectly captured the essence of learning by doing and left participants inspired to explore further.
Automax 4.0 successfully bridged the gap between theory and application, reinforcing the club’s commitment to nurturing future innovators and problem-solvers.
