Agri-Innovations at VKSA-Kharif 2025 Event in Patiala
Under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) – Kharif 2025, a grand agricultural event was successfully organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala on June 5, 2025.
The event was graced by Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sh. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as the Chief Guest. Dr. M.L. Jat, Secretary DARE and Director General, ICAR, New Delhi; Sh. Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Punjab; Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana; Dr. Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General, ICAR; Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone-I, Ludhiana; Dr. HS Jat, Director, ICAR-IMR, Dr. Nichiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, and Dr. M.S. Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, Dr. Manjeet Singh, Dean, COAE, graced the occasion.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over two thousand farmers from across the region. A special attraction of the programme was the live demonstration of advanced mechanized rice nursery and transplanting technologies. The mat-type nursery sowing using the PAU-ICAR developed mat-type seeder, followed by transplanting through a remotely controlled paddy transplanter, captivated the attention of the farming community and dignitaries alike. These innovations have been developed under the aegis of ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Farm Implements and Machinery (FIM) and AICRP on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture and Allied Sciences (ESAAS).
The demonstration was meticulously organized by Dr. M.K. Narang, Head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, PAU, along with faculty members Dr. Anoop Kumar Dixit, Dr. Manpreet Singh, Dr. Shiv Kumar Lohan, Dr. Aseem Verma, and Dr. Arshdeep Singh.
The event reinforced PAU’s continued commitment to empowering farmers through technological innovation and precision agriculture in collaboration with ICAR and State Departments.

39th Annual Workshop of AICRP on Farm Implements and Machinery Organized✨

The 39thAnnual Workshop of All India coordinated Research Project on Farm Implements and Machinery (AICRP on FIM) was organized at PJTAU, Hyderabad (Telangana) during 07-9thJanuary, 2025. The workshop was chaired by Dr. SN Jha, Dy. Director General (Agril. Engg.) while Co-Chaired by Dr. KP Singh, Asst. Director General (Farm Engg.) and Dr. CR Mehta, Director (ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal). Dr. Aldas Janaiah, Hon’ble vice chancellor, PJTAU, Hyderabad was the chief guest of the inaugural session. Dr. VM Mayande, former Vice Chancellor (Dr. PDKV, Akola) was the distinguished expert to review the progress of the centers. Senior officials and Research Engineers/PIs and associated scientists from 25 centers of AICRP on FIM, project coordinators of the associated scheme(s) of agricultural engineering division, scientists from CIAE ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal and Officials of PJTAU, Hyderabad (Host organization) participated in this workshop. Dr. V. M. Mayande, a distinguished expert, highlighted the crucial role of mechanization, stating, 'Without mechanization, agriculture cannot progress’. He also stressed on the lower mechanization level in India and suggested to look into the issue regarding the low adoption of advanced technologies among the farmers. Dr. C. R. Mehta spoke about the 50-year journey of AICRP on Farm Implements and Machinery, from manual to automated machinery for agriculture. Dr. K. P. Singh emphasized the importance of a three-way interaction among researchers, manufacturers, and farmers to achieve 100% implementation of research. Dr. S. N. Jha highlighted the important role of agricultural engineers at all levels, from panchayats to state directorates, in enhancing farm mechanization. Hon. Vice-Chancellor of PJTAU, Aldas Janaiah, stated that the future of agriculture lies in humanless farming, which can only be achieved with the help of agricultural engineers. He highlighted how technologies like mobile apps, drones, and others are reducing the need for human labor in farming. He urged ICAR to launch AICRP projects focusing on new technologies like agri-robotics. Furthermore, the event included Farmers session and Manufacturers session. It is concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Rajaiah, Head ARI & PI, AICRP on FIM, PJTAU, Hyderabad.

Technology and Machinery Demonstration Meet cm Farmer’s Fair was organized by ICAR- Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi centre under the scheme ICAR-AICRP on Farm Implements and Machinery on 16th March, 2022. Dr. K. K. Singh, Member, ASRB was the chief guest of the occasion. About 250 farmers participated in this meet from 20 different villages of Jhansi, Lalitpur and Tikamgarh districts from the adjoining areas.
