NTA to replace CBSE as Convener Body of NEET, JEE, UGC NET & CTET

Attention Folks!



Here comes the biggest announcement for all those aspirants who’re going to appear in any of the CBSE Entrance Exams such as UGC NET, NEET, IIT JEE, CTET or JNV Admission Test.



Sadly! The CBSE will no more be the convener body of these exams.



As per the recent decision made by the Union Cabinet, all those exam authorities who’re currently holding dozens of exams every year will now be replaced by the National Testing Agency (NTA).



The National Testing Agency (NTA) will serve as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational institutions. As per the approval of Union Cabinet, the NTA will be created as a Society registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860.



To ensure the smooth functioning of the National Testing Agency, the Union Cabinet has decided to keep an eminent educationist (appointed by MHRD) as its Chairman. The CEO of NTA will be the Director General appointed by the Government and assisted by 9 academicians/experts.



Initially, NTA will take over the CBSE governed entrance exams but later or sooner, it will be replacing all the other exams’ bodies such as – AICTE, IITs, IIMs etc.



The decision to make the National Testing Agency, a replacement of CBSE, was made to bring a positive Education Reform in India. Considering various crucial factors, the Union Cabinet has reached to this final decision.





Here we’re presenting the highlights of the decision made on 10th November 2017 as well as its upcoming benefits. Please have a look below –







1. The National Testing Agency will benefit around 4 Million Students across India.



2. Initially, NTA will conduct only those entrance exams which are currently under the authorities of CBSE.



3. Gradually, it will take over other entrance exams too.



4. All the exams will be conducted in online mode.



5. To proffer more opportunities to candidates, the NTA will hold all the exams twice a year. The aspirants will have more chances to showcase their talent and ensure their selections.



6. The Rural Area Students will be greatly benefitted with this decision. As NTA will locate the exam centers at sub-district/district level. Sooner, it may also start the training sessions of such candidates to take online tests effectively.



7. The agency will also bring in high reliability, standardized difficulty level to assess the aptitude, intelligence and problem-solving abilities of the students.







To fill in all the gaps within the Indian Testing System and make it an enhanced one, the National Testing Agency will be granted a fund of INR 25 Crore by the Indian Government.

Finally the Nobel prizes for chemistry declared..
The Nobel prize in chemistry has been awarded to three scientists for developing a technique to produce images of the molecules of life frozen in time.

Jacques Dubochet, Joachim Frank and Richard Henderson will receive equal shares of the 9m Swedish kronor (£825,000) prize, which was announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm on Wednesday.

The technique they developed, called cryo-electron microscopy, has allowed the structure of biomolecules to be studied in high-resolution for the first time, an advance that has transformed the field of biochemistry.

Before the breakthrough, electron microscopes were only suitable for imaging dead matter, because the powerful electron beam destroyed biological material. Henderson, a Scottish scientist and professor at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, succeeded in using one of these microscopes to generate the first three-dimensional image of a protein at atomic resolution.
Joachim Frank, a German-born professor at Colombia University in New York, made the technology more generally applicable. Dubochet, who is Swiss and an honorary professor at the University of Lausanne, refined a vitrification technique that allowed biomolecules to be rapidly frozen while retaining their natural shape.

Speaking to journalists after the announcement, Frank said the practical uses for the technique were “immense”.

The resultant imaging technique has allowed scientists to explore the architecture of everything from the proteins that cause antibiotic resistance to the surface of the Zika virus. Last year the 3D structure of the enzyme producing the amyloid of Alzheimer’s disease was published using this technology. By capturing snapshots of the same system at different time-points, scientists can even stitch together jittery film sequences of biological processes as they unfold.

This has paved the way for both new basic insights into life’s chemistry and for the development of pharmaceuticals.

The development of cryo-electron microscopy: The final technical hurdle was overcome in 2013, when a new type of electron detector came into use.
Prof Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz, professor of mammalian development and stem cell biology at the University of Cambridge, described the choice as “wonderful”. “A visual image is the essential component to understanding, often the first one to open our eyes, and so our minds, to a scientific breakthrough,” she said.

Dame Athene Donald, a professor of experimental physics at the University of Cambridge whose work has focussed on understanding biological structures, said the technique had made an enormous difference to her field, adding that she had been struck by a talk by Henderson that she attended during her PhD. “It was stunning work,” she said. “It’s a long time ago but it’s brilliant to see the developments finally be rewarded by this year’s award.”

Barry Fuller, professor in surgical sciences at University College London Medical School, said Dubochet is widely known as a “star” in his field. “The technology is aimed … on imaging biomolecules in the life process ‘frozen’ in time – so they are called to immediate halt,” he said.

In the future, Fuller added, understanding the configurations and stability of biomolecules at ultra-low temperatures may help advance efforts in cryobiology, where scientists are focused on how to vitrify human tissue and organs to allow them to be preserved for long durations.
