The Youth Red Cross (YRC) induction and training program was held today at Pragati Degree College, Bhawanipatna, in the esteemed presence of Er. Ajay Kumar Panda, Secretary of the Pragati Group of Institutions; Mr. Laxmikanta Behera, President of the Governing Body of Pragati Degree College; and Mr. Tapas Paramanik, Principal of Pragati Degree College. The event also welcomed Mr. Shantanu Parida, District Coordinator of YRC; Mr. Sanjib Kumar Sahu, District Convenor Secretary of YRC; Mr. Mohan Charan Bishi, YRC Counsellor from LA High School, Behera; Dr. Gokula Nanda Chhatria, YRC Counsellor at Pragati Degree College; and JS Amartya Bania, Lecturer in Zoology at Pragati Degree College.

The program focused on introducing new YRC members to the organization’s core principles, emphasizing the importance of social responsibility, humanitarianism, and service to the community. Through engaging and interactive sessions, the attendees received essential training in first-aid, disaster preparedness, and community outreach, all fundamental skills for effective social service. Each speaker highlighted the vital role of youth in driving positive change, encouraging the students to take active steps in serving their communities.

The event concluded with a unified pledge from all participants to uphold the YRC’s mission, marking a meaningful beginning for these students on their journey to leadership and community service. The program was a memorable and motivational experience, reflecting the commitment of Pragati Degree College to fostering compassionate and socially responsible youth leaders.

A career counseling session took place today at Pragati Degree College, Bhawanipatna, led by Dr. Adarsh Rath, the founder of Klorofeel Education Association, and attended by the principal, Mr. Tapas Paramanik. Students from every department actively participated in the event, which offered valuable insights into various career opportunities and the essential skills needed to succeed in today's competitive job market. Dr. Rath's in-depth knowledge, along with Mr. Paramanik's support, encouraged students to reflect deeply on their career choices and how to prepare for their future. The interactive session also included a Q&A segment, where students had the chance to ask personalized questions about their career paths.

The Department of Computer Science at Pragati Degree College organized a prestigious National Level Workshop on Computer Science, attracting distinguished experts from IIT. The event was held on August 20th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Seminar Hall of Pragati Degree College, Bhawanipatna. The focal topic of the workshop was "Artificial Intelligence for Image Processing Tools". Er. Ashok Kumar Bhoi, Associate Professor at the Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event also honored esteemed guests such as Mr. Laxmikanta Behera, President of the Governing Body of Pragati Degree College, Sri R. Sivanand, Lecturer in IT at Government Higher Secondary School, Sri Sachindra Behera, Lecturer in BCA at Maa Manikeshwari University, and Mr. Rudra Singh, Teacher at Vidyamandir, Braja Vihar, Bhawanipatna. The workshop was meticulously coordinated by Er. Soumya Sourabh Patnaik, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Pragati Degree College, Bhawanipatna. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various institutions, including Government College of Engineering, Kalahandi, Maa Manikeshwari University, Government Higher Secondary School, Hitech Higher Secondary School, Pragati Concept School, and Pragati +2 (CHSE) School. The Chief Speaker, Mr. Abhinav Devaguptapu, an AI and Cybersecurity Expert with DRDO and the Indian Army, and Curriculum Development Manager at NxtWave, delivered a profound and insightful session.
