Ramadan In Islamic History

It was said during the times of Period that if children did not play around in the Masjid, it would mean that the Muslims had no future.

This means that earlier generations gave priority to children. Especially in ensuring that they had priority space in the Mosque, no matter how inconvenient it may be to the adults.

Even during the month of , children were encouraged to have fun while the adults were fasting and carrying their duties in their wordly affairs.

Children during the time of Ramadan would stay awake until the period of (pre-dawn meal). The children that lived near the imperial mosques in the old city would be taken to see the , the string of lights between the minarets in which were the verses from the or scenes of various sorts, including boats and fish.

The children who fasted were not just forced to fast but they were given presents. The adults would tell them to keep half of the fast. The children, none the less, did not sleep until (pre-sunrise prayer).

Compare that to Mosques in the UK. Not just children but their mothers are made to feel like a nuisance, a burden. And you can see how many young people would rather now go to places they see welcome to like Cinemas and Clubs. Anywhere but the mosque.
