Government Medical College, Bettiah

Now GMC Bettiah have well equipped Centre facilitated with 182 beds, ICU, oxygen linings, PPE changing rooms,WiFi etc.

"Government Medical College Bettiah- hosts the largest Isolation Ward in the state with 232 fully equipped beds."

This same place was once a 10-roomed institute, with 2 Lts, three labs, a library which was a room and corridor, presenting the eye-catching view of generations of pigs roaming around.

This was the college we were welcomed into by our senior batch, where everything was scarce. Hostels were scattered around the town. Batches waited their turns to attend classes. To learn how to save lives.

"Students are the backbone of a nation."
Well, it couldn't be any truer for GMCB. This college had been in existence since 2008, a large pile of dust, weeds and paperwork. Public desensitised to the pitiful situation and the White Collored played pass-the-blame games.
It were the founding batches, students sickened of the situation, left their books and skeletons and Dr. Najeeb sir's videos and joined hands to rectify the scene. Even with threats against their careers, they had held their ground.
It was something to watch.

Here's a Shout out to Mr. Manish Kumar and Mr. Ravish Kumar, NDTV channel, who amplified our voices and to Mr. Tejpratap Yadav, Health Minister Bihar (2015-17) who heard it. Thanks to them the Project GMCB snowballed and three years later here we are, proud pupillage of this work in progress, yet a fine institution.

And now, when every newspaper is holding out for Government Medical College, Bettiah, and with the vywing for glory, let us never forget; Students are, and will always be the heart and soul of this place. Here's to every Medico in every single batch (13-19), the founding members who have made the place what it is and the ones who'll carry the legacy forward.
