We were all born picture thinkers till we started going through formal schooling. Most of us make that switch to word thinking/verbal thinking, as we learn our letters and numbers. Some of the gifted ones remain picture thinkers and see everything in 3 dimension. Isn’t that an exciting way to look at things. Unfortunately it is not so helpful when learning letters and numbers.

Do you know? Today’s statistics says that 1 out of 8 children is dyslexic and 85% of Dyslexics think in pictures.

What happens if the child is not good at maths? Is the child dumb? Is she/he a failure? Is there no future for the child?

We think that doing well in math is not the end of the world. Some of the parents may differ. At the least all the parents should realise that math scores is not the best barometer to assess the intelligence in children.

We would love to hear what you think?

Math grades is a great obsession in parents. Some parents take pride in their social circles bragging about the math scores of their child and compare them with other children in the class.

Have you ever wondered why Finland has the best education system in the world and the Finish kids are number one in every aspect? You will be surprised at the reasons: (1) No Homework (this is considered as obsolete) (2) Encourage children to relax their brain activity and encourage family time (3) Limited school hours. Primary school - 20 hrs a week, including lunch hour (4) No standardised testing (5) Educators emphasising the importance of happiness in students.
Simple yet very effective. How can we learn from them instead of reinventing the wheel. Hope our new NEP will be able to address these simple things. The onus is on the parents and the educators.

Mid-line crossing is an important skill children have to develop for them to be able to read, write and play sports spontaneously. When mid-line crossing happens the child’s right brain and the left brain are communicating with each other which leads to the child completing the task efficiently. This video further explains the WHY and HOW.

What is mid-line crossing ? why do some children struggle to read, write, run or play sports. This is due to some children missing developmental milestones.
