*Understanding Adolescence: Guiding Young Minds with Care* : Adolescence is not a problem to be solved, but a journey to be guided with patience, understanding and love.” St. Paul’s High School, in collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), organised an informative seminar for the High School students on “Adolescence – A Period of Storm and Stress.” The session was led by Paulite Alumnus Dr. Madan Amarnath Dongare, MBBS, AFIH and Chief Medical Officer at KLE Wellness Centre in Udyambag, Belagavi. Using simple language and good anecdotes, Dr. Dongare explained adolescence as an important period of transition, marked by physical, emotional, intellectual, social, moral and religious development. He spoke about the changes young people experience during puberty and the challenges they may face, including self-consciousness, peer pressure, mood changes, adjustment at home and school, and uncertainty about the future. He also encouraged students to develop healthy hobbies such as singing, music, sports and other creative activities, which can help them use their time positively, develop confidence and maintain emotional well-being. He also advised them to obey and respect their parents, teachers and elders, at all times, describing this as the shortest mantra for a successful future. Adding humour and warmth to the session, Dr. Dongare became nostalgic as he addressed the High School students. He fondly recalled his own school days and paid rich tribute to the Jesuits and teachers who shaped and guided him during his formative years. The seminar stressed the importance of trust, open communication, guidance and mutual respect. Parents and teachers were encouraged to understand adolescents, respect their opinions and avoid excessive criticism. The session was a timely reminder that with love, patience and the right guidance, young minds can confidently choose the right path and grow into responsible and compassionate adults.
