The interesting story of our educational system
- by Adhitya Iyer
- from TEDxCRCE
A story surrounding more than a million students in India built around a booming IT industry, a machine like education system, a race to a seat amongst the top engineering colleges and student suicides in our system. The Indian Education System in all its complexity has turned out to be one of the most fascinating educational stories in the world. Watch Adhitya Iyer in his talk share his travel around the country discovering the truth behind the common engineer in India.

Adhitya Iyer completed his engineering degree from Mumbai University, where he studied in an institute interestingly named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and was inaugurated by Nehru. He was listed as one of India's Top 30 student Entrepreneurships by the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). He later spent 2 years in Bangalore, India selling chai, before he set out to write a non-fiction on the complex life of India's engineers is Kickstarter funded and is India's highest crowdfunded book. He thinks the society needs to be re-imagined and that humans can't be spending more than half their life doing something they seldom enjoy.

It's official: Your Periodic Table is now obsolete
Four more elements have officially been added to the seventh row:
☆ Nihonium (Nh) - 113,
↪ This name is derived from "Nihon", a Japanese word for Japan.
☆ Moscovium (Mc) - 115,
↪ This honours the Russian capital city, Moscow.
☆ Tennessine (Ts) - 117,
↪ Tennessine is named after the state of Tennessee, known for its pioneering research in chemistry, and it marks the second US state to be honoured on the periodic table. The first was California, referenced by californium (element 98).
☆ Oganesson (Og) - 118.
↪ Oganesson is named after 83-year-old Russian physicist Yuri Oganessian, and this is only the second time a new element has been named for a living scientist.
