The 𝗡𝗦𝗦 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝟵 of 𝗞𝗟𝗘 𝗝.𝗡. 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗶, observed World Blood Donor Day on 14.06.2026 at the 𝗜𝗧𝗕𝗣 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, Halbhavi Village, Belagavi. 🇮🇳✨
The event focused on empowering our soldiers with crucial health education through three impactful sessions:
🔴 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀s

𝗗𝗿. 𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗷 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹 (NSS Programme Officer) conducted an awareness session on blood donation, highlighting its importance and benefits to both donors and recipients. A total of 𝟯𝟱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 participated and benefited from the session.
🦟 𝗩𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿-𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

𝗠𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗶 𝗚𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿 (Health Inspector, Vantamuri PHC) delivered an awareness talk on communicable diseases and provided practical tips to prevent mosquito breeding and thereby reduce the risk of 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲.

🚭 𝗧𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲

Postgraduate students from the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 addressed the participants on the ill effects of to***co use and emphasized the importance of adopting a to***co-free lifestyle.

The programme was well received by the participants and contributed to promoting health awareness among the soldiers. 💪🏥

We are pleased to share that 𝐀𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐮, an MBBS Phase III/I student at 𝐊𝐋𝐄 𝐉𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐫𝐮 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞, Belagavi, secured the 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in the *Surgery Poster Presentation* category at 𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐍𝐀 𝟒.𝟎 — the National Health Sciences Research Conference organized by the Student Research Forum of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore (June 4th–6th, 2026).

She presented a poster on a rare clinical scenario:

The Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, KAHER, Belagavi, successfully concluded the 𝟒𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 held from 4–6 June 2026, in fond memory of 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬. The conference brought together over 200 delegates from 14 states.

The conference was inaugurated by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. (𝐃𝐫.) 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐯𝐚, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, KAHER, and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐒. 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫, Principal, JNMC, Belagavi, who appreciated the department's remarkable tradition of academic conferences and CMEs spanning over four decades.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐱𝐦𝐢 𝐌. 𝐃𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨𝐥, Professor and Head, Department of Pathology and Organising Chairperson, welcomed the gathering, while 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐢 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢, Organising Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.

🤝 An Alumni Meet on 4 June 2026 brought together around 30 alumni, strengthening bonds across generations of pathologists.

KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed-to-be University), through its Kannada Balaga and KLE School of Music, successfully organized Vachanotsava-2026 at the JN Medical College campus, Belagavi.

More than 1,000 students, faculty members and staff from various KLE institutions participated in a unique mass singing presentation of 35 selected Vachanas, celebrating the timeless message of equality, dignity of labour, compassion and social justice propounded by Jagajyoti Basaveshwara.

🙏 His Holiness Dr. Basava Marulasiddha Swamiji, Basava Tatwa Peetha, Chikkamagaluru and Basava Kendra, Shivamogga, highlighted the contemporary relevance of Basavanna’s teachings and the significance of the Anubhava Mantapa as a pioneering democratic forum promoting equality and social harmony.

Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chancellor, KLE Deemed University, emphasized the importance of Vachana literature in shaping ethical and value-based lives and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the KLE fraternity. Prof. Dr. V. M. Patilshetty, Registrar, also spoke on the role of Vachanas in fostering human values and social cohesion.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Rajesh Powar, Principal, JN Medical College and Honorary President of Kannada Balaga. Dr. Avinash Kavi, Chairman, Kannada Balaga, welcomed the gathering and introduced the significance of Vachanotsava. The programme was compered by Dr. Netravati Kavi and Mrs. Anupama, while Dr. Sunita Patil proposed the vote of thanks.

The first phase of this landmark initiative was successfully completed under the visionary leadership of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿 𝗕. 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲, Chancellor, KAHER, and coordinated by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶 𝗞. 𝗗𝗼𝗱𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗱, Co-ordinator, KLE Society and KLE English Medium Schools.

The programme was implemented by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗶 𝗦. 𝗚𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗿, Gynaecological Oncologist, JNMC and Project Co-ordinator, with clinical support from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗗. 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲, Prof. Paediatrics, JNMC and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿, Prof. Paediatrics, KLE JGMM Medical College, Hubballi.

The initiative utilized the Gardasil Quadrivalent HPV vaccine, with a primary focus on vaccinating girls aged 9–14 years prior to HPV exposure, the age group in which vaccination provides the greatest preventive benefit.

Vaccination was administered according to age-appropriate dosing schedules, with beneficiaries completing the recommended vaccine doses over an implementation period extending from September 2025 to May 2026.

With support from 𝗠𝘀. 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲 and the Gulaab Seva Foundation, Bengaluru, awareness programmes were conducted across 9 KLE Society schools in Belagavi, Hubballi, Dharwad, Nippani, Chikkodi and Ankali.

This initiative reflects KLE Society's commitment to preventive healthcare, adolescent health, women's health and the WHO goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem.

The Department of Microbiology, KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research's JN Medical College, Belagavi, organized a 𝐎𝐧𝐞-𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 under the ICMR-DHR, Government of India sponsored Research Project on HIV Drug Resistance on 9th June 2026.

👥 𝟏𝟏𝟕 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 including Laboratory Technicians, Counsellors, Data Entry Operators and NGO representatives from Belagavi and Uttara Kannada districts were trained.

The initiative was envisioned and led by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐘. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥 (Professor of Pathology), who recognized that today's fast-paced academic environment requires strong personal coping mechanisms. Alongside 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐫 (School of Public Health) and supported by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐡𝐚 𝐁𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧, they turned the classroom into a vibrant space for personal growth.

Our students didn't just listen—they interacted, debated, and picked up essential tools for:

Simplified Treatment for Eclampsia Prevention using Magnesium sulfate: A phase III, randomized,open label, active controlled, multicountry, multicentre, non-inferiority trial of simplified magnesium sulfate regimen for eclampsia prophylaxis (The STEP-Mag Trial)

The WHO STEPMag Trial is a multicountry clinical trial investigating whether a simpler regimen of administering magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) can effectively treat severe, pre-eclampsia and prevent eclampsia. It seeks to lower maternal mortality globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

We are delighted to share that the KLE JNMC Women's and Children's Health Research Unit conducted a comprehensive protocol training session for the STEPMag trial at GIMS Gadag!

On June 6th, 2026, our faculty members, Dr. Mrutyunjay C. Metgud and Dr. Amaresh Patil conducted an intensive training program focusing on:
