Students of Chemistry Department, DAV College Bathinda Visit IISER Mohali

The Department of Chemistry of DAV College Bathinda organized an educational visit to the prestigious Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali to provide students with first-hand exposure to advanced research facilities and scientific practices.

During the visit, the students explored state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments used in cutting-edge chemical research. Faculty members and research scholars at IISER Mohali interacted with the students, offering valuable insights into ongoing research projects, experimental techniques, and future career opportunities in the field of chemistry. 25 students from B.Sc. and M.Sc. visited IISER Mohali.

Dr. Sanjay Mandal, Professor(HAG) Chemical Sciences, IISER Mohali had an interactive session with the students. During his session he discussed about the future perspectives of research in Science.

The visit proved to be an enriching experience as students gained practical knowledge beyond classroom learning. They were introduced to modern analytical techniques and interdisciplinary approaches that are shaping contemporary scientific research.

The educational visit was organised under the guidance of the Head, Department of Chemistry Prof. Meetu Wadhwa. Dr. Paramjeet Kaur and Ms. Cheeril Rana accompanied the students during the visit

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the effects of the Department of Chemistry. He emphasized that such visits play a crucial role in bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and real-world applications. The students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity, stating that the exposure has inspired them to pursue research-oriented careers.

Department of Commerce and Management at DAV College, Bathinda Organises Farewell Ceremony

Undergraduate students of the Department of Commerce and Management at DAV College, Bathinda, bid farewell to their senior students. In the presence of the entire faculty of the Commerce Department, the students presented a vibrant and entertaining program featuring cultural performances and fun-filled games.

The students also bestowed catchy titles upon their seniors. Ishan Goyal and Nancy Arya were awarded the titles of 'Mr. Confident' and 'Miss Confident,' respectively; Anmol and Khushpreet Kaur were named 'Mr. Handsome' and 'Miss Attractive'; and Juvneesh Sharma and Himanshi were honored with the titles of 'Mr. Farewell' and 'Miss Farewell.' On this occasion, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, and Dr. Monika Ghulla served as the judges.

College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma blessed the students, wishing them a bright future and a successful life. Prof. Vikas Katia, Head of the Department of Commerce, extended his best wishes to the students for their future endeavors. The outgoing students spent wonderful moments with their friends, reminiscing about the glorious days spent at the college, and expressed how much they would miss their alma mater.

Readers' Club of DAV College, Bathinda conducts Book Review Session

Readers’ Club under the aegis of Department of English, DAV College Bathinda conducted its Book Review Session. The Session was attended by 9 Readers, in the eminent presence of the Faculty of the Department. These readers presented reviews on their latest readings. Books covering a range of thematic concerns, from religion to mystery, from life facts to secret stories were highlighted in this engaging and engrossing session. Titles as diverse as The Silent Patient, I cannot Say Goodbye to You, The Alchemist, The Art of Being Alone, Tai Chi Chaun, Read People like a Book, Bhagat Singh: Selected Speeches, The Five People You Met in Heaven, and The Power of your Subconscious Mind were thoroughly discussed.

The Convener of the Club Prof. Heena Bindal highlighted the importance of reading and motivated the students to be intensive readers of literature.The Head of the Department Dr. Satish Grover addressed the readers and shared her inputs. She motivated the students to read as well as write creatively.
The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma applauded the efforts of the Department of English for inculcating the habit of reading Literature amongst the students. The session was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Satish Grover, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Heena Bindal, and Dr.Samanveer.

Havan Yajna Organized at DAV College, Bathinda, in Devotion of Mahatma Hansraj Ji
Havan Yajna and Vedic recitation ceremony were organized at DAV College, Bathinda on the occasion of Mahatma Hansraj Ji's birth anniversary. This havan yajna and vedic recitation was organised to pay homage to the spirit of total dedication that characterized the entire life of Mahatma Hansraj Ji.The proceedings commenced with the offering of flowers to Mahatma Hansraj Ji, paying him respectful obeisance. The Vedic recitation was conducted through the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra and various other sacred mantras. The Vedic recitation and Havan Yajna were jointly organized by the Department of Hindi and the Arya Samaj Committee.
During the Havan Yajna, Dr. K.K. Nohria and Mrs. Vimal Garg (Senior members of the Local Advisory Committee)fulfilled the role of Yajmans (the chief patrons of the ritual). College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Sandeep Bhatia, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Dr. Parveen Bala, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff and students, also offered oblations into the sacred fire, praying for the progress of the institution, public welfare, and global peace.
Dr. K.K. Nohria recalled Mahatma Hansraj Ji's profound contributions to the field of education, specifically highlighting his remarkable efforts in promoting women's education. Furthermore, he inspired the faculty members to remain ceaselessly dedicated to the advancement of the college.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma paid homage to Mahatma Hansraj Ji, recalling his unforgettable contributions to the development of education, and encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from his teachings. Together with the entire faculty, he offered prayers to the Almighty for the continued progress of the college. He also commended Dr. Monika Ghulla (Coordinator of the Arya Samaj Committee) and committee members Dr. Neha Jindal, Prof. Neha Garg, and Prof. Munish for the successful organization of the Havan Yajna.

Employment Registration Camp Organized at DAV College

The Career and Placement Cell of DAV College, Bathinda, in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE), Bathinda, organized an "Employment Registration Camp" for students on April 7, 2026. During this camp, 65 students registered offline, while approximately 125 students registered online.

A team from the DBEE, led by Sardar Baltej Singh, visited the college and registered the interested students.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma advised the students that they must register with the "DBEE" to stay informed about job opportunities in both the government and private sectors. He also commended the efforts of the Career and Placement Cell's Convener, Prof. Vikas Katia, and its members Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Prof. Atul Singla, Prof. Seema Garg, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, and Prof. Palwinder Singh in organizing this event.

Shri Akhand Paath Sahib was held at DAV College Bathinda to mark the beginning of the new session

The Parkash of the holy Akhand Paath Sahib of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was organized at Gurdwara Sahib on April 15 and Bhog was offered at the college on April 17. This holy initiative was taken by the students of the college with the cooperation the Principal and the Staff member organized with the cooperation of the Principal of the college, all the staff and students. The Paath was organised to mark the beginning of the new session, and the progress of the college.
On this occasion, Dr. K. K. Nohria, Sh.Chaudhary Partap Singh and Smt.Vimal Garg (Senior Members of the Local Advisory Committee), Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, Principal RB DAV Schoo Bathinda and Gurpreet artist reached the college in high esteem.
After the Bhog of the holy Paath of Guru Granth Sahib, prayers were offered for the welfare of all. Sitting in the presence of Guru Sahib, the teachers and students listened to the holy Kirtan and Hukamnama. After this, Guru's Langar was served.
The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma extended his gratitude towards the Students for organizing the holy event. He appreciated the NSS and NCC Volunteers for the smooth conduct of the Langar Seva. He also applauded the efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff for their team work in the apt ex*****on of the holy Paath.
