Life-Saving Workshop Organized at DAV College, Bathinda on World First Aid Day
The NSS Department of DAV College, Bathinda, in collaboration with MAX Super Speciality Hospital, Bathinda, organized a special awareness workshop to mark World First Aid Day. The theme for this year was "Learn First Aid, Save Lives." MAX Healthcare is conducting this campaign to commemorate 25 years of service and excellence.
Dr. Vedvratya (Consultant and Head of the Accident and Emergency Department, MAX Hospital) attended the workshop as the keynote speaker. He was accompanied by Mr. Gurjant Singh Dhillon (Marketing Head), Mr. Robin Singh (Marketing Executive), and Ms. Ritu, a Project Officer from Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA).
Dr. Vedvratya explained life-saving techniques to the students in detail through both theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations. Key topics discussed during the workshop included the Heimlich maneuver, first aid for brain strokes, the importance of the recovery position (lying on the left side), first aid for bleeding caused by accidents, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and CPR.
Prof. Ramil Gupta conducted the proceedings, and Dr. Prabhjot Kaur delivered the vote of thanks.
Expressing gratitude to the entire team from MAX Hospital, College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that such training is essential for every young person, as timely first aid can save lives. He also commended NSS coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, and Prof. Ramil Gupta for organizing such an awareness-raising program.

Mentor-Mentee Meetings Held at DAV College Bathinda

DAV College Bathinda organised Mentor-Mentee Meetings in all the classes across various departments of the college with the objective of strengthening interaction between teachers and students and addressing their academic and other concerns.

During the meetings, mentors interacted with students and listened to their grievances, suggestions and problems. The mentors assured the students that their genuine concerns would be addressed appropriately and encouraged them to communicate openly with their teachers.

Special emphasis was also laid on ensuring the registration of students on the EMC (Entrepreneurship Mindset Course) portal. Students were guided about the registration process and encouraged to complete their registration within the stipulated time.

The initiative reflected the college's commitment to student welfare, effective mentoring and holistic development. The Principal of the College Dr.Rajeev Kumar Sharma adviced the mentors to encourage the students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities and make the best use of the opportunities provided by the college.

CISF Conducts Fire Safety Demonstration at DAV College Bathinda

The NCC Unit of DAV College Bathinda organised a Fire Safety Demonstration in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to create awareness among students about fire prevention, safety measures and emergency response.

During the programme, participants were acquainted with different categories of fire, including Class A, Class B, Class C and Class D fires, and were informed about the appropriate methods of dealing with each type. Assistant Commandant Mukesh Chaturvedi and Inspector/Fire S K Suman
explained the importance of identifying the nature of a fire before attempting to control it.

A practical demonstration of water-gun/fire-hose operation was also conducted. Participants were given hands-on training in handling the equipment and were guided on the correct procedure for responding to a fire emergency.

The NCC cadets and more than 400 students of the college, actively participated in the demonstration and learnt essential techniques for responding calmly and effectively in emergency situations. The session emphasised the importance of preparedness, alertness and timely action to prevent loss of life and property.

The College Principal Dr.Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the CISF personnel and NCC Coordinators ANO Lt.Munish Kumar and Heena Bindal for organising the informative and practical session.

Sukhveer Kaur, a player for the Indian Hockey team and a student of DAV College, Bathinda, was felicitated upon her arrival at the college.

It is a matter of great joy and pride for DAV College, Bathinda, that its student, Sukhveer Kaur, returned to the college after winning a gold medal as a part of the Indian hockey team at the Asian Championship held in China.

This achievement by Sukhveer Kaur has brought honor to her parents and the institution.Upon her arrival at the college, the entire staff welcomed Sukhveer Kaur with a great pomp and show. She was congratulated by the students and the staff members.

College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma extended his best wishes to this talented student for her exceptional achievement .He commended the Head of the Physical Education Department, Prof. Kuldeep Singh, along with Prof. Nirmal Singh, Prof. Ajay Walia, Prof. Lovpreet Kaur, and hockey coach Rajwant Singh, for providing proper guidance to the students.

DAV College Bathinda organised an Orientation Prog
On 12th September 2026, the P.G. Department of Commerce and Management held an orientation program for first-year BBA and M.Com. students, with around 70 incoming students in attendance. The session was designed to introduce them to the college’s academic environment, faculty members, and available facilities.
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to academic excellence and co-curricular engagement. He remarked that the students of our college serve as DAV Ambassadors to society, carrying forward the institution’s legacy and values.
In his inspiring address, Prof. Vikas Katia, Head of the Department, stressed the importance of having clear objectives when choosing a course of study. He outlined the career opportunities available alongside BBA and M.Com programs, and highlighted how, after completing these courses, graduates can build successful businesses that serve a large and growing client base, provided they remain creative and keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
Dr. Kusum Gupta introduced the department, highlighting its resources and faculty members, and provided an overview of the key activities and initiatives undertaken by the department during the previous academic session.
The captivating dance performances presented by Kushi(BBA) and Preeti (MCom) added vibrancy to the programme and created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and celebration.
A hands-on training session was organized for students on the newly introduced EMC course, offering practical guidance on the registration and application process. The proceedings were smoothly conducted by Prof. Monika Bhatia. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Neha Garg and ended on a cheerful note as students were served delicious refreshments.
The event was honored by the presence of Vice Principal Prof. Sandeep Bhatia and Registrar Dr. Gurpreet Singh, and other esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Prof. Ramil Gupta and Prof. Ajay Walia.

डी.ए. वी. कॉलेज, बठिंडा में हिंदी दिवस ‘एक सप्ताह के रूप में’ के समापन समारोह का आयोजन
डी.ए. वी. कॉलेज, बठिंडा में “हिंदी दिवस एक सप्ताह के रूप” मनाने का निर्णय किया गया था, जो कि 14 सितंबर से 18 सितंबर 2026 तक चला । इस कार्यक्रम में सात प्रतियोगिताएँ करवाई गई , जिसमे कवितोच्चरण, भित्ति पत्रिका, हिंदी में हस्ताक्षर, मुंशी प्रेमचंद पर भाषण प्रतियोगिता, प्रश्नोत्तरी और मनोरंजक खेल सम्मिलित है ।
इसके समापन समारोह में प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता, मनोरंजक खेल और प्रसारण व्याख्यान का आयोजन किया गया। जिसमें डॉ. विनोद कुमार ( सहायक प्रोफेसर, पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय, चंडीगढ़) ने विषय विशेषज्ञ की भूमिका का निर्वहन किया।
कार्यक्रम के आरंभ में मुख्य मेहमान का स्वागत प्राचार्य डॉ. राजीव कुमार शर्मा और हिंदी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. मोनिका घुल्ला ने पौधा भेंट कर किया ।
डॉ. विनोद कुमार ने हिंदी भाषा : ज्ञान कौशल एवम् रोजगार का सशक्त माध्यम विषय पर व्याख्यान दिया। उन्होंने अपने व्याख्यान में कहा कि भाषा ज्ञानार्जन में बाधक नहीं साधक है । उन्होंने विविध व्यावहारिक दृष्टांतों से भाषा की महत्ता का वर्णन किया। उन्होंने संचार के विविध माध्यमों में भाषा के प्रयोगों पर विस्तार से चर्चा की । उन्होंने छात्रों को तकनीक का उचित उपयोग कर ज्ञानार्जन करने की प्रेरणा दी। उन्होंने सूचना और ज्ञान में अंतर बताते हुए उचित मार्गदर्शन में ज्ञानार्जन करने की प्रेरणा दी। उन्होंने कहा कि अपना कौशल इतना विकसित करें कि आप उच्च स्तरीय रोजगार प्राप्त कर सकें। साथ ही उन्होंने हिंदी भाषा में रोज़गार के विविध अवसरों पर चर्चा की ।
प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता में 12 छात्रों को 3 टीमों में बांटा गया, जिनका नाम प्रसाद, पंत और निराला रखा गया। पंत टीम में प्रिया (बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष), अमनदीप(बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष), ख़ुशकिरण (बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष) और सान्या (बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष) की टीम विजेता रही ।
मनोरंजक खेलों में प्रभजोत((बी.ए तृतीय वर्ष), अफ़रीन (बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष) और कवि (बी.ए द्वितीय वर्ष) ने पुरस्कार अर्जित किए।
महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डॉ. राजीव कुमार शर्मा ने हिन्दी दिवस ‘एक सप्ताह के रूप में’ मनाने की पहल की अनुशंसा की । उन्होंने डॉ. विनोद कुमार जी का इस कार्यक्रम में पधारने पर स्वागत किया। उन्होंने छात्रों को हिंदी भाषा के अधिक से अधिक प्रयोग करने की सलाह दी । उन्होंने हिंदी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. मोनिका घुल्ला और हिंदी विभाग के छात्रों को इस कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन पर शुभकामनाएं दीं ।

DAV College Bathinda organises Declamation and Poetry Contest

English Literary Society under the aegis of Post Graduate Department of English, DAV College Bathinda organised a Declamation Contest on the topic “The Future of Jobs in the Age of Artificial Intelligence , War in the Digital Age and Influencers: The New Opinion” and Poems on motivational, reflecting social causes and patriotic themes.
Literary Society of DAV College Bathinda always aims to give wings to the creative ideas and thought process of the young literarians. 25 enthusiastic participants from the various streams presented their oratory skills and intellectual framework.

The event began with the welcoming of the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma and the Judgmental Panel which included Dr.Satish Grover, Head Department of English, Dr.Neetu Purohit, Co-Convener Dr. Monika Ghulla, Head Department of Hindi and Prof.Ramil Gupta, Department of Computer Science.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma in his inaugural address highlighted the key role, the youth plays in bringing glories to the nation by observing the values of discipline, commitment and self sacrifice. He also emphasized the issue of overpowering of technology in replacing humans for jobs.

The Head of English Department Dr. Satish Grover addressed the Students and motivated them to be active participants of such literary events. The participants artistically stated their opinion and the audience keenly listened to their nuanced ideas.

The event concluded with the announcement of the results and distribution of the medals to the participants .Jasmine was declared first, Navjot second and Akashdeep bagged the Third Prize.
In Poetry Recitationn Vanshika Kaur got the first position, Sukhpal Singh bagged the second prize and Amandeep got the third prize.
The judges also appreciated the participants. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma applauded the efforts of the faculty of Department of English namely Dr.Satish Grover, Head, Department of English, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Heena Bindal, Prof. Gurdeep Singh, Prof. Anita Rani, Dr. Samanveer, Prof. Asha Goel, and Prof.Harmanveer.

डी.ए. वी. कॉलेज, बठिंडा में “हिंदी दिवस एक सप्ताह के रूप” मनाने का निर्णय किया गया है , जो कि 14 सितंबर से 19 सितंबर 2026 तक चलेगा । इस कार्यक्रम में प्रति दिवस नई प्रतियोगिता करवाई जाएगी, जिसमे कवितोच्चरण, भित्ति पत्रिका, हिंदी में हस्ताक्षर, मुंशी प्रेमचंद पर भाषण प्रतियोगिता, प्रश्नोत्तरी , प्रसारण व्याख्यान और मनोरंजक खेल सम्मिलित है ।
हिंदी दिवस के ‘एक सप्ताह के रूप में’ का आज चौथा दिन ,17 सितंबर मुंशी प्रेमचंद जी को समर्पित किया गया और मुंशी प्रेमचंद विषय पर भाषण प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यक्रम के आरम्भ में हिंदी विभाग की अध्यक्षा डॉ. मोनिका घुल्ला ने बताया कि मुंशी प्रेमचंद जी का साहित्य समाज का दर्पण है और आदर्श के साथ-साथ समाज के व्यावहारिक रूप का भी वर्णन करता है ।

स्नातक प्रथम, द्वितीय और तृतीय वर्ष के छात्रों ने इस कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया और मुंशी प्रेमचंद जी के जीवन परिचय, रचनाओं और उन पर लिखित जीवनियों पर विचार प्रस्तुत किए ।
