Fiji’s new theme park to boost tourism

Nadi’s new theme park which displays a full feature of a rural setting in the colonial years is expected to boost tourism in the tourist town.
Heritage Hamlet is the first of its kind and presents both communities of Fiji.
The Park’s director says it has taken its inspiration from its early settlers.
“We want to create how Fiji was 50 years ago, virtually from the colonial era, from the Indians coming in and straight to Independence so we’re trying to picture that and show that to our guests how we were living in terms of entertainment, food culture and a way of living. At the moment, Fiji is known for the white sand and blue sea but they also want to know the cultural side of Fiji and if you look at Indonesia, Bali, Bangkok, Singapore, Malaysia they have the tropical climate, white sand and blue sea but they also have the cultural side of things which Fiji was lacking and this heritage hamlet theme park will fill that gap.”
The $2m project was officially launched last year and hopes to fill a gap in the cultural picture presented to tourists.
A break at the park will allow tourists to learn Fijis history and at the same time draw our younger generations closer to their past.
