Our MA student, Abrar Ahmed, created this news reel as an assignment on current events and issues. It reflects how our students are preparing for the media industry and also highlights the department’s commitment to developing industry-ready media professionals.

We are happy to share that our PG Final year students Abrar Ahmed, Anjana V, Nasmiyan Sherin, Piyush Awasthi recently attended a International conference where they presented their research papers and shared their experiences.

It was a valuable opportunity for them to engage with new ideas, interact with scholars, and build confidence in academic research and presentation.

Their participation reflects their dedication and the department’s commitment to encouraging research and critical learning.

Today, our MA Mass Communication and Journalism (final year) students—Nasmiyan Sherin, Anjana V, Abrar Ahmed, and Piyush Awasthi—presented their research papers (part of their MA dissertation) at an international conference jointly organized by the Centre for Media and Communication, Jamia Hamdard University, and DME Noida.

We wish them the very best for their academic journey ahead.

Under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies, CU Punjab, marked National Press Day with the theme “Freedom of Press: The Voice of Democracy and Responsible Journalism.”
The event included Elocution and Poster Making competition, with enthusiastic participation from students across program.

We were honoured to have Prof. (Dr.) Shahila Zafar (Department of English), Dr. Shailendra Kumar Sharma (Department of Psychology) and Dr. Brijendra Kumar (Department of History) as judges. The program was coordinated by Dr. Vishnu Menon.
Dr. Rubal Kanozia, Head of Department, addressed the gathering and delivered the vote of thanks.
