“Reshaping Pharmaceutical Education and Research through NEP 2020”

A highly informative and inspiring seminar on hybrid mode on the topic “Reshaping Pharmaceutical Education and Research through NEP 2020” was successfully organized on 14-May-2026 at the AIPBS with the transformative impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on pharmaceutical education, research, innovation and transformation.

The keynote speaker for the seminar was Professor (Dr.) Suresh Kumar, Punjabi University, Patiala, who delivered an enlightening and thought-provoking session highlighting the changing framework of pharmaceutical education in India.

During his address, Professor (Dr.) Suresh Kumar stressed the importance of outcome-based education, industry-academia collaboration, experiential learning, and research-oriented approaches to prepare students for future healthcare and pharmaceutical challenges. His insightful presentation motivated faculty members, researchers, and students to align themselves with the progressive educational reforms introduced under NEP 2020.

The seminar was graced by several distinguished dignitaries and esteemed guests:

The stage was held by Dr. Chetan to initiate the event followed by Dr. Uma Jyoti who introduced the event. Dr. Mandeep Malhi briefed the professional well beings about the esteemed speaker. There was enthusiastic participation by faculty members of the AIPBS. The participants gained the valuable insights about the future scope of pharmaceutical education and the role of research and innovation under the framework of NEP 2020.

The seminar was presided over by Dr. S.S. Brar, Principal, AIPBS with commitment about the smooth implementation of the regulations of NEP 2020 for future perspectives. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Anupama Setia, Dean Academics, AIPBS expressed sincere gratitude to the keynote speaker, dignitaries, faculty members and student council for making the event successful.

Additionally, heartfelt gratitude is extended to Dr. Gurpreet Singh Gill, Medical Superintendent Admin, for his kind and constant encouragement and valuable support in the successful organization of the seminar. His guidance and administrative cooperation played a significant role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event and motivating the organizing team toward excellence.

NTF-TB Chairman visit to AIMSR

Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda hosted the visit of National Task Force Chairman for Tuberculosis, Dr Ashok Kumar Bhardwaj, on 13th May 2026 to review and appreciate the ongoing efforts under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in Medical Colleges. He was accompanied by Dr Paritosh Dhawan, GOI NTEP Consultant and Dr Rosy Aggrawal, DTO, Bti.

Dr Parmod Kumar Goyal (Principal, AIMSR), Dr Sanjeev Kumar (Med Supdt-Hosp) and Dr Tanvir Kaur Sidhu (Prof & Head, Community Medicine) reiterated the institute’s continued commitment towards supporting the national mission for TB eradication. Dr Gurpreet Singh Gill,Medical Supt (Admin) also emphasized that the institute remains dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment, diagnostics, and outreach activities as per government guidelines.

The visit was coordinated by Dr Jagriti, Nodal Officer (Public Health) and was joined by Dr Upasana Bhumbla (Prof & Head, Microbiology) and Dr Avneet Garg (Assoc Prof, Resp Med). The meeting was attended by all NTEP core committee members including clinicians and nursing staff.

Dr Bhardwaj also visited the institutes TB Laboratory facilities and DOTS Centre, where he provided valuable suggestions for further strengthening TB care services. The committee additionally showcased its commitment towards community outreach through the Family Adoption Programme and regular awareness and outreach camps aimed at ending tuberculosis.

The visiting dignitaries appreciated the efforts of AIMSR Bathinda in integrating academics, research, and public health practice towards the goal of TB Mukt Bharat and emphasized the need for continued strengthening of diagnostic facilities, capacity building, and operational research.

Together, we move closer towards a TB-free India.

World Salt and Hypertension Day was successfully observed by the GNM 2nd Year students to create awareness about the harmful effects of excessive salt intake and the prevention of hypertension. The program included PPT presentations, skit, poems, and chart displays to promote healthy lifestyle practices and the importance of reducing salt consumption.
Faculty members were present for the event, and Principal Mam Dr. Jessie Metilda addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of awareness and prevention of hypertension.

AIMSR Conducts Medical Camp at Village Tungwali

On May 8th, 2026, the Department of Community Medicine, AIMSR organized a medical camp under the Family-Adoption Program at Gurudwara Sahib, Village Tungwali. The camp was led under the able guidance of Dr. Gurpreet Singh Gill (Medical Superintendent-Admin), Dr. Parmod Kumar Goyal (Principal, AIMSR), Dr. Sanjeev (Medical Superintendent -Hospital) and Dr. Tanvir Kaur Sidhu (Professor and Head, Community Medicine, AIMSR, Bathinda).
General O.P.D services were provided by Dr. Gurkirat, Dr. Harshpreet, Dr. Jagriti, Dr. Japneet and Dr. Heema along with Dr. Kanika (PG), Dr. Maninder (PG) and interns. Specialist Consultations were offered by Dr. Rifika Bansal (SR) and Dr. Prabhsimran (SR) – Medicine, Dr. Panku (SR) and Dr. Amiteshvar (JR) – Ophthalmology, Dr. Yashika (SR) and Dr. Tanya (JR) – Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr. Prabhprit Kaur & Team from Dental College and Dr. Harpreet (PT) and team from Physiotherapy Department. MBBS Batch 2025 conducted the preliminary screening in adopted families and provided health education. Students helped in motivating and mobilizing the family members. Mr. Jasvir Singh (MSW), Mr. Harjinder Singh, Mr. Karamjit Singh (PRO) and other field staff supported the camp. A total of 300 beneficiaries received medical care.
This outreach initiative was a significant step in providing essential healthcare services to the population and strengthening the community’s access to quality medical care. The camp received full support and participation from the community.

The Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the GNM 1st Year students (Batch 2025–2028) was solemnly conducted at the College of Nursing. The ceremony marked the formal initiation of the students into the noble profession of nursing, symbolizing knowledge, compassion, and service.
The programme commenced at 2:30 PM with a warm welcome speech delivered by Assistant Professor, Mrs. Monika Devi, who graciously greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the esteemed dignitaries, including the Principal, College of Nursing, Dr. Jessie Metilda; Vice Principal, Prof. (Mr.) Prabhu Swamy A.C.; Prof. (Mrs.) Susan Mathew; Prof. (Mr.) Ramakrishna; Prof. (Mr.) Sanjay Kumar; Assistant Professor, Mrs. Monika Devi; and Clinical Instructor, Mr. Jobanpreet Singh. College of Nursing, Adesh University, organized a World Health Day celebration for BSc Nursing 2nd Semester students in accordance with the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”

The program commenced at 2:30 PM with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction highlighting the importance of World Health Day and its relevance in promoting global health awareness.The event witnessed the gracious presence of respected faculty members, whose encouragement and support played a vital role in the success of the program.

The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Principal Dr. Jessie Metilda and Vice Principal Mr. Prabhu Swamy, whose participation motivated the students and added significance to the occasion. The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Class Coordinators Dr. Kirandeep Kaur and Mrs. Soma Rani.

A PowerPoint presentation on the theme of World Health Day was delivered by Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, who effectively emphasized the importance of scientific approaches in healthcare and collective responsibility towards global well-being.

Following this, a mime performance was presented by Ms. Tarandeep Kaur and group, creatively depicting key health issues and spreading awareness through expressive, non-verbal communication.

At the conclusion of the event, the Principal addressed the students, appreciating their efforts, enthusiasm, and teamwork in organizing such a meaningful program.

The Department of Microbiology at AIMSR, Bathinda, under the prestigious endorsement of Dr Gurpreet Singh Gill and able guidance of Dr Upasana Bhumbla, turned "Hand Hygiene Day" into a vibrant celebration of health and creativity! 🧼🙌

Our incredible nursing staff traded their sphygmomanometers for paintbrushes and colors, showcasing their talent in a spirited Poster and Rangoli making Competition.

The message was clear: "Saving lives starts with clean hands."
The atmosphere was electric as our participants demonstrated that infection control is both a science and an art. A huge congratulations to our winners!

The ceremony was graced by our esteemed leadership, Principal Sir, Dr Parmod Kumar Goyal, Dr Monika Ma’am and Medical Superintendent, (MS) Sir, Dr Sanjeev Kumar and Dr. Rama ma'am, who judged the entries and felicitated the prize distribution.
