What an incredible opportunity for the students of Classes 1 and 2 at Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, Barrackpore!
As part of the *Recognition of International Dimension in Schools (RIDS)βa prestigious accreditation and certification programme by the British Council* βour young learners connected with students from *Bridge Christian Initiative School, Uganda* to explore the fascinating world of animals.
Through confident speeches, creative headgears, masks, worksheets, and drawings, the children shared their research on Indian, Qatari, and Ugandan animals, celebrating learning, creativity, cultural exchange, and global friendship.

π World Environment Day 2026 π±
Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School proudly celebrated World Environment Day at the Indian Museum, Kolkata, on 5th June with great enthusiasm and creativity.
Our Junior Section students charmed everyone by participating in the "Go As You Like" competition, dressed as their favourite fruits and vegetables, spreading the message of healthy living and environmental awareness.
Our Senior Section students showcased their innovation by presenting a "Smart House" model based on solar energy, highlighting the importance of sustainable living and renewable resources.
It was a day filled with learning, imagination, and a shared commitment to protecting our planet. We are proud of our young environmental ambassadors for their outstanding participation and inspiring efforts.

A visionary leader, dedicated educator, and former President of Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, Barrackpore, Mrs. Suseela Gidla's unwavering commitment to excellence in education continues to inspire generations.
Her wisdom, compassion, and selfless service helped shape the values and aspirations of countless students and educators. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in every classroom, every achievement, and every life touched by her leadership.
