Sky Watchers' Association of Bardhaman To inform people about the different assets of outer space and visions related to astronomy. Born out of St. Xavier's School, Burdwan.

Exceptional of exception, thinks beyond boundaries . It was just the thought of some school going children and some vital citizens of the city, which got a perfect blend to step out towards the heavens. It got crystallized to form a minor group, unknown to most. The year 2013, the coming of Comet ISON, made a swift way out to do something extraordinary with an extravagant feeling. The Sky and Tele

scope newsletters as guide, thrilled our nerves and we started our adventure with our unaided eyes and a pair of binoculars. Clear skies of the summers and the crystal pure heavens in winters, pushed us , to stretch our boundaries and conquer the unattained. Sky Watchers Association of Bardhaman, operates from the Rice Bowl of West Bengal, the city of Bardhaman.

Less than 7 hours remaining for the upcoming Total Lunar Eclipse!
A quick review for one and all:
Moon rise: 5:19 PM
Totality starts: 6:21 PM
Greatest eclipse: 6:59 PM
Totality ends: 7:37 PM
Umbral phase ends: 8:41 PM
Direction: East.

All that's needed to observe the eclipse are your unaided eyes and nothing else, though a pair of binoculars would add icing to the cake.

Dear sky watchers,
Bardhaman is going to have a splendid view of the upcoming Total Lunar Eclipse, after the last TLE it witnessed in 2011.
People will observe the full Moon, turn pale, then, limb darkening followed by Totality!
Timings:
Beginning of the umbral phase: 5:08 PM
Moonrise: 5:19 PM
Beginning of Totality: 6:21 PM
Greatest Eclipse: 6:59 PM
End of Totality: 7:37 PM
End of umbral phase: 8:41 PM. :)

•30% brighter than apogee Moon.
A supermoon is a full moon or a new moon that approximately coincides with the closest distance that the Moon reaches to Earth in its elliptic orbit, resulting in a slightly larger-than-usual apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.
The technical name is the perigee syzygy of the Earth–Moon–Sun system or more simply full (or new) Moon at perigee.
