We are pleased to share that Dr. Sumit Kumar Hira, PI Sumit Kumar Hira of the Cellular Immunology Laboratory, UoB, delivered an invited talk at the international conference โTranslating Genomics into Human Welfare 2026โ held at Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.
The talk highlighted our labโs ongoing research on the epigenetic regulation of T cell exhaustion, focusing on how epigenomic mechanisms shape dysfunctional T cell states in the tumor microenvironment and their implications for cancer immunotherapy.
The conference was sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation - ANRF.
We sincerely thank the organizers for the kind invitation and the opportunity for scientific exchange.

A closer look under the microscope ๐โจ
This bright-field image captures a beautifully defined cell with a clear boundary and internal texture, alongside a neighboring companion structure. Subtle details like these help us understand cell morphology, integrity, and interactions during in-vitro culture.
Every frame tells a storyโscience unfolds one image at a time.

๐ฌ Histology in Focus | Where Structure Meets Story ๐ฌ
A glimpse into the microscopic worldโthis beautifully stained tissue section highlights the intricate architecture of glandular epithelium and surrounding stroma. The vivid contrast reflects not just colours, but complex biological interactions that define tissue organization, pathology, and function.
Moments like these remind us why we love the lab: every slide has a story, every stain reveals a secret, and every observation brings us one step closer to understanding biology at its finest.
