– UNCHANGED

"November is the most unlikeable month in the whole year! So dull and cold!" said Margaret, standing at the window overlooking the garden. "Yes, but it is also our day for a letter from Father from Washington!" said Jo. "Our Father is as regular as the sun, but there's some delay on the way, perhaps." "Hmm.. I hope the postman comes soon!" said Meg. Just then Hannah, who worked as a domestic help, came in with a letter. "It's a telegraph, Madam," she said, handling it with trembling hands. At the word 'telegraph', Mrs March snatched it, read the two lines, and dropped back into her chair. Her face was white with fright. Laurie dashed downstairs for water, while Meg and Hannah supported her, and Jo read aloud, in a frightened voice... Mrs March: Your husband is very ill. Come at once. S.
