🚀 Announcing the 5th Winter School on Deep Learning (WSDL 2026)! ❄️🤖

Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata | Electronics and Communication Sciences Unit (ECSU)

We are thrilled to unveil the fifth edition of our flagship academic event — the Winter School on Deep Learning (WSDL).
🗓 January 16, 2026 – March 08, 2026
🎯 Theme: From Amateur to Connoisseur: A Journey Transforming Perceptrons to Agents

This year’s Winter School promises a deep, structured dive across the ever-expanding landscape of modern Deep Learning — guiding participants from foundational neural network principles all the way to the frontiers of autonomous, agentic systems.

🔍 What’s New & Exciting in WSDL 2026?

✨ A dedicated week on Agentic AI
Reflecting the global shift toward autonomous intelligence, we’re introducing a full week exploring the evolution from predictive models to action-taking agents.

💻 Hands-on, full-day coding project
To bridge theory and implementation, participants will engage in an intensive, application-driven coding module — completely online.

🏛️ Continuing a legacy of excellence
WSDL has historically hosted some of the world’s greatest minds in AI. Past speakers include
Prof. Geoffrey Hinton (Nobel Laureate in Physics, Turing Awardee)
Prof. Sanjeev Arora (Gödel Prize Winner)
We carry forward this tradition with pride and commitment.

📝 Registration Opens Soon!
We invite students, researchers, and industry professionals to join us for this transformative learning experience. Stay tuned for the registration announcement!

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming 4th
Chapter of the Winter School on Deep Learning
(WSDL), 2025, hosted by the Electronics &
Communication Sciences Unit (ECSU) of ISI
Kolkata. Building on the remarkable success of
the past three years, this year's program
promises to be even more engaging, featuring
advanced topics such ais Large Language
Models (LLMs), Speech Processing,
Reinforcement Learning, Graph Neural
Networks, and the critical role of Foundation
Models in Science.
Deep Learning continues to be a transformative
force shaping the future of industries and
academia. The global siginificance of Al has
been further underscoredthis year by the Nobel
Prize committee, recognizing the profound
impact of Al in science by awarding the
Physics Prize to Prof. Geoffrey Hinton and the
Chemistry Prize to Dr. Demis Hassabis. We are
proud to highlight that Prof. Geoffrey Hinton, a
trailblazer in Al, delivered the inaugural lecture
at our 2nd WSDL in 2023.
To foster an ecosystem of innovation and
excellence in cutting-edgle Deep Learning
technologies, we will soon open enrollment for
this year's Winter School. Stay tuned for
