Special Friday Session, 21/11/2025:
The Department of Media studies organised a special screening session today to celebrate the day of the radio and television, during which the history, evolution, and iconic content of radio and television in India were presented. Students had the opportunity to see selected clips which included radio plays, stories for children, sound effects.
At the end of the event, a quiz based on the day’s screenings took place, which was very interactive with the students actively participating and displaying their knowledge of Indian broadcasting history. The celebration purpose was to give students a better understanding of India’s media heritage and creative journey of radio and television.

04/11/2025: A seminar was held by the Department of Media Studies , with Mr. Mir Ehsan, Senior Assistant Editor and Bureau Cheif Srinagar, Hindustan Times, as the speaker of the seminar.
Mr. Ehsan talked about his work life, mentioning that he began working as stringer and later joined The Indian Express, where he used to cover the J&K section, North Kashmir included. Mr. Ehsan commented that even though journalism has remained the same as before, the Journalism and Media sector have changed largely due to technology.
While addressing the students, he emphasized the importance of the ethics, clarity, consistency and good writing in journalism. He encouraged students to begin by covering small stories, have dedication and to keep learning.

28/10/2025: Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), hosted the Film Festival in collaboration with Film Southasia (FSA). The event aimed to bring internationally acclaimed Travelling FSA 2025 to Kashmir.
Stitch, a film by Department of Media Studies, Government Degree College, Baramulla, bagged the best film award.
