Barabanki’s A***n Gupta Secures Third Rank at All India Spark 64 Chess Talent Hunt
Barabanki, July 20, 2026 – The Spark 64 All India Under 20 Rapid Chess Talent Hunt concluded here with remarkable performances from young chess prodigies across the country. Held on July 18–19, 2026, at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall, KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow, the tournament was organized by Raven Rows to celebrate World Chess Day.
The competition followed a 7-round Swiss-system rapid format with a time control of 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move. The event was managed by Tournament Director Rishu Sharma and Chief Arbiter FA Aniket Mohan. Separate boys’ and girls’ prize sections were contested across multiple age brackets, including Under-6, Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, and Under-20.
A***n Gupta — a student of Sagar Nurture International School, Barabanki — brought laurels to the district by securing third rank in the highly competitive Under-18 category. Notably, A***n defeated several contestants who have represented the nation at national-level competitions, making his achievement particularly significant for the Barabanki district.
Upon his return, the school management, led by Manager Shri Manas Jhunjhunwala, felicitated A***n with his certificate and momento during the school assembly. The Principal also publicly appreciated his accomplishment, acknowledging the glory he has brought to Sagar Nurture International School. The school’s Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Gaurav Mishra, was present on the occasion.
The tournament witnessed strong performances from Lucknow’s top-rated young players, with champions emerging across various age categories. The event served as a vibrant talent hub, drawing aspiring chess players from across India.
Spark 64 Chess Talent Hunt is an All India rapid chess tournament organized annually to celebrate World Chess Day, providing a competitive platform for young chess talent from across the country.
