Responding to requests received from several quarters and in view of the winter recess, we are glad to inform all that we are extending the last date of submission of Abstracts for the conference to 12 January 2026 (EOD).

We believe this will be of convenience to prospective contributors and look forward to receiving their Abstract submissions.

We are happy to confirm the in-person participation of our Keynote Speakers Professor John Hutnyk, Ton Duc Thang University and Professor Helen Pringle, University of New South Wales, and Plenary Speakers Professor Pradeep Trikha, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur and Professor S. Armstrong, University of Madras.

Ms. Rowan Ainsworth, the Hon'ble Consul General, Australian Consulate Kolkata inaugurated the ICSSR Sponsored 2nd International Conference of the Centre for Australian Studies , BKU on 07 February 2024.

We are deeply honoured and greatly privileged that she graced the ocassion as Chief Guest.
We thank her for her second visit to the Centre for Australian Studies , BKU and her kind support.

The Centre for Australian Studies and Australian Studies Resource Centre were founded on 29.11.22 at Bankura University with a vision to promote multicultural and interdisciplinary engagement with Australian Studies from a non-metropolitan location of India. The Centre, conceived with a local yet also national and global relevance, aims to contribute to research on Australian Studies from an Indian perspective. It is committed to organizing international conferences towards this end, works towards research publications, invites renowned academics from universities worldwide for talks and interactions with PG students and research scholars, and facilitates the conduct of M.A. classes for the 4th semester Australian Literature special paper by experts in the field from India and the world. The Backwash conference is the second ICSSR sponsored conference being hosted by the Centre.
