July 19, 2025/ Students of Grade 10 alongwith faculty members from Adnan Model HS Banihal visited the Chenab Valley Farming, Chamalwas Banihal .
During the visit students were provided with a unique opportunity to interact with Mr Gul Zubair Sohil Sahab the owner of Chenab valley Farming.
The students minutely visited the various apartments , where Mr Gul Zubair Sohil demonstrated the latest techniques and scientific approaches of modern agriculture system.
Some of the key areas covered included:
1. Tissue Culture Technique: A vital method for propagating plants in sterile conditions, ensuring disease-free and uniform plant growth.
2. High-Density Apple Cultivation: An advanced technique that increases apple production by planting more trees in a smaller area, thus improving yield and quality.
3. Hybridization: A scientific process where plants are crossbred to produce hybrids with desirable traits such as higher yield, disease resistance, and improved flavor.
4. Deep Irrigation: A water conservation technique aimed at delivering water directly to the root zone, enhancing water use efficiency and promoting healthy plant growth.
5. Mulching: The application of organic or synthetic materials on the soil surface to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature, contributing to healthier crops.
6. Indoor Cultivation Techniques: A modern approach to growing plants in controlled environments, allowing for year-round cultivation, protection from adverse weather, and better control over growing conditions.
The students benefited immensely from this exposure, as they had the chance to observed and learned about these innovations firsthand. Mr Salman Zahid, Principal of Adnan Model HS Banihal also appreciated the initiatives taken by Mr Sohil.Mr Sohil not only interacted with the students but also delivered practical demonstrations on various horticultural techniques and introduced them to government schemes aimed at promoting horticulture.
The visit enriched the students’ understanding of horticultural science and motivated them to apply these modern techniques in their future academic and professional endeavors.
