Know Your IB Mentors| Manneet Kaur | IB Coordinator at DPS Bangalore East IB
For Manneet Kaur, teaching has never been about simply completing the syllabus. It has always been about helping students truly understand what they learn and connect it to the real world.
With 18 years of teaching experience, including 13 years at Delhi Public School Bangalore East, she currently serves as the IB Coordinator. She also teaches Economics in the IB programme.
Her philosophy is simple yet powerful:
“Teaching does not fulfil its purpose unless students truly understand and connect with what they are learning.”
At DPS Bangalore East IB, our mentors focus beyond textbooks. Through practical applications, real-world examples, analytical thinking, and inquiry-based learning, students are encouraged to question, explore, and think independently.
According to Ms. Manneet Kaur, today’s learners need more than academic knowledge. They need the ability to apply concepts, analyse situations, and adapt to a constantly changing world — skills that form the foundation of the IB curricula.
Her classrooms are built on curiosity.
“I always like to begin with what students are going to learn and why it matters. Once curiosity is generated, students naturally begin to explore more deeply and engage with the subject.”
At DPS Bangalore East IB, experienced and qualified mentors guide students through a learning journey that prepares them not just for examinations, but for universities and life beyond the classroom.

One of the most common questions parents ask is:
“What makes the IB Diploma Programme different?”
At DPS East, the strength of our IB Diploma Programme lies in the IB Core — Theory of Knowledge (ToK), Extended Essay (EE), and CAS.
These components go beyond academics and help shape students into confident, reflective, and lifelong learners.
Through Theory of Knowledge (ToK), students learn to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and explore different perspectives. This nurtures open-minded and independent thinkers.
The Extended Essay (EE) gives students the opportunity to research a topic they are passionate about, building strong research, writing, and time-management skills.
CAS – Creativity, Activity, and Service encourages students to discover talents, stay active, and make meaningful contributions to the community beyond the classroom.
Universities around the world value IB learners because they are prepared not only for academic success, but also for real-world challenges and responsibilities.
At DPS East, the IB programme is designed to develop well-rounded individuals ready to thrive in university and beyond.

Clarity at 16 is rare. Acting on it is even rarer.
For Samarth Raj, the path was always clear - a future in sports. What he needed was a programme that would support that ambition without asking him to choose between academics and athletics.
The IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) at Delhi Public School Bangalore East IB gave him exactly that balance.
He says, “IBCP gave me a strong academic base while keeping me aligned with my goal in sports. It never felt like I had to compromise one for the other.”
His subject choices reflected both rigour and relevance:
• Business Management HL
• Mathematics HL
• Economics SL
• Career-related Studies (CRS) in Sports Management
Alongside the IBCP core components, this combination helped him build not just knowledge, but direction. He says, “CRS Sports Management played a huge role. It gave me real insight into the sports industry and prepared me for what I want to pursue in higher education.”
His two years at school were not defined by the classroom alone. With an active sporting schedule and frequent travel, Samarth had to constantly balance training, competitions, and academics.
That balance wasn’t easy.
But it was made possible.
He says, “The support and flexibility from my educators made a big difference. They ensured I could stay on track academically while continuing with my sporting commitments.”
That ability to navigate both worlds is now shaping his next step. Samarath Raj is now pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Sports, Exercise and Health at Oakland University of Technology, majoring in Sports Leadership and Management.
From a clear goal to a structured pathway, his journey reflects what IBCP can enable - not just academic success, but purposeful direction.
Let’s hear about the IBDP Humanities program from our faculty, Ms. Namrata Patnaik.
In the IBDP curriculum, Humanities fall under Group 3: Individuals and Societies a dynamic and thought-provoking domain that explores the complexities of human behaviour, societies, and global systems.
These subjects are designed to cultivate a deep and critical understanding of human experiences across cultures, time periods, and perspectives. Through inquiry-based learning, students develop strong analytical thinking, research skills, and the ability to evaluate real-world issues with empathy and insight. A strong emphasis on international mindedness encourages learners to appreciate diversity, challenge assumptions, and engage responsibly with global challenges.
Students who pursue Humanities in IBDP are well-prepared for a wide range of impactful careers, including law, international relations and diplomacy, media and journalism, digital communication, clinical psychology, education, research, NGOs, and public administration. Beyond subject knowledge, they grow into articulate, informed, and socially aware individuals.
At DPS East Cambridge, the IB philosophy of holistic education is deeply embedded in our approach. We go beyond academic excellence by providing access to a well-rounded learning environment enriched with sports, co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities. This balance nurtures confidence, leadership, collaboration, and personal growth.
At DPS EAST IB, we believe in shaping not just successful students, but responsible global citizens. Every learner at DPS is encouraged to be kind, compassionate, and considerate values essential in today’s interconnected world.
