If you donโ€™t taste the space youโ€™re visiting or staying in, how do you truly understand how it makes you feel?

As growers and naturalists, we always make it a point to get you to taste something edible along the way. And believe it or not, many of our native plants are edible or have been traditionally used in some form for their medicinal properties.

We love watching expressions change โ€” from uncertainty to wonder, and that little gleam in the eye when the taste buds begin to discover something new.

Often, it takes us straight back to a childhood activity, a familiar flavour, or a little piece of nostalgia. And that is where connection happens in the biggest way.

So letโ€™s forage, taste, smell, touch and, of course, listen our way into Nature โ€” because that is what our senses are for. And trust us, you will delight in it. ๐ŸŒฟ

Our weekly walks at the iconic, living green jungle of central Bangalore, Taj West End, are an invitation to experience the space through all your senses.

We talk about old Bangalore days, the cityโ€™s unique microclimate, the incredible diversity of plants growing here, green stories of traditional plant use, medicines, and very, very old trees โ€” all while tasting our way through this remarkable green jewel in the heart of the city.

Come walk, wonder, learn โ€” and taste your way into Nature.

School camps at A Green Venture are about slowing down, stepping outdoors and truly experiencing nature. ๐ŸŒฟ

Our camps are deeply immersive, sensory and nature-rich, designed around unhurried, experiential learning.

Children get to discover:
๐ŸŒฑ Traditional ways of growing and living with the land
๐Ÿ How flora and fauna are deeply connected
๐Ÿ„ Why farms and natural spaces need animals โ€” and the beautiful roles cows, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats play
๐ŸŒง๏ธ What the first rains do to the ground after months of summer, and how biodiversity suddenly comes alive
๐Ÿชจ Stories held by old inscription stones, village traditions and jhatras (processions)
๐ŸŒฟ Medicinal plants and traditional plant knowledge
๐Ÿงด Hands-on workshops such as making natural herbal scrubs and shampoos using plants and organic materials
๐Ÿฆ‹ Close observation, sensory exploration, nature games and simply having the time to notice
๐Ÿ› Free play for children; Playing outside is on thing, play at a natural grow space under trees and fresh air hits a different feeling and a huge form of self expression

And perhaps most importantly โ€” time away from screens, schedules and the familiar, learning to be comfortable outdoors, away from home and parents, while building curiosity, independence and a deeper connection with the living world.

Our camps are not about rushing from one activity to another. They are about slowing down enough to see, listen, touch, wonder and learn.

Kiddos in Nature, for us, means LEARN โ€ข LIVE โ€ข LAUGH! ๐ŸŒฟ

Because when little minds between 3 and 6 step into nature, it has to be joyful, playful and memorable.

These little ones are already wonderfully curious about the world around them โ€” and on our walks, they quickly become our very own insect spotters, bird listeners and tiny explorers. ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒ

Itโ€™s a marvel to see how much they can notice in such a small spaceโ€ฆ and just how much there is to discover!

Our recent Cubbon Park explorations brought us:

๐Ÿ› Yellow-dotted millipedes โ€” so many of them after the rains!
๐Ÿœ Weaver ants busy restructuring their nests, perhaps a little confused by all this rainfall.
๐Ÿฆ† Spot-billed ducks, faithfully hanging around the pond.
๐Ÿฆ White-breasted moorhens, happily calling away.
๐Ÿฆœ Parakeets, munias and barbets โ€” creating a beautiful post-rain cacophony that was pure music to the ears.
๐ŸŒ Slugs and snails everywhere we looked.
๐Ÿฆ‹ And the famous (or infamous!) โ€œKambli boochiโ€ โ€” a moth caterpillar that had quite a few grown-ups going, โ€œOh yes! I remember these!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜„

Then there were the baby roots of the Banyan tree โ€” a wonderful sensory experience for little hands and curious minds.

And of course, nature learning wasnโ€™t just about looking.

๐Ÿ”Ž Walk, spot & tick โ€” finding biodiversity as we went.
๐Ÿซง Flower bubble making โ€” because learning can be delightfully messy and magical.
๐Ÿพ And our favourite: โ€œLetโ€™s all be the animals of Cubbon Park!โ€

Because sometimes the best way to understand nature is to move, play, listen, imagine and become part of it.

Walk. Wonder. Learn. Laugh. ๐ŸŒฑ

Thatโ€™s Kiddos in Nature.

Little feet, big discoveries at Cubbon Park ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฆ‹

We recently had the joy of taking a lovely group of preschoolers from Papagoya School into the green heart of Bengaluru โ€” Cubbon Park โ€” for a morning of exploration, movement, play and nature-based learning.

For little ones, a nature walk is so much more than a walk. It is an opportunity to slow down, notice, touch, listen, wonder and ask questions. ๐Ÿ’š

And there was plenty to discover!

๐Ÿ› Earthworms & millipedes โ€” tiny creatures doing incredibly important work beneath our feet
๐ŸŒ Giant snails โ€” a rather exciting encounter for our young explorers!
๐Ÿฆœ Barbets & parakeets โ€” we spotted some and heard many more calling from the canopy
๐Ÿฆ… Black kites soaring overhead
๐ŸŽจ Colour identification activities โ€” looking at the park through a rainbow of natural colours
๐Ÿ”Ž Nature scavenger hunts โ€” encouraging little eyes to notice the details we often walk past
๐Ÿชจ And, of course, a little climbing adventure!

One of the highlights was discovering and climbing a beautiful ancient rock formation shaped rather wonderfully like a crocodile basking in the sun. It became the perfect place for some imagination, movement and a little bit of geological wonder.

From tiny millipedes to enormous trees, from birdsong to textured bark, every corner of Cubbon Park became a classroom.

Because when children are given the chance to explore nature, learning doesnโ€™t have to be confined to four walls. ๐ŸŒณ

At A Green Venture โ€“ Nature Walks & Education, we create age-appropriate, experiential nature experiences where children can Walk โ€ข Wonder โ€ข Learn.

Our weekly walks through a living jungle, right in the heart of Bengaluru! ๐ŸŒฟ

Every week, guests at the beautiful Taj West End are invited to step beyond the pathways and discover the remarkable natural world within this historic 20-acre property.

These unhurried walks explore the propertyโ€™s old trees, birds, insects, plants and the fascinating stories of the ecosystem that has evolved here over generations.

From the magnificent rain trees and ancient trees that create a unique microclimate, to the smaller creatures and seasonal changes that often go unnoticed, every walk offers a different glimpse into this thriving urban wilderness.

A gentle blend of nature, ecology, storytelling and observation โ€” designed to help guests slow down, look closer and experience Bengaluruโ€™s wild side in an entirely different way.

A living jungle. A historic property. A different story every week.

๐ŸŒฟ Happy Teachersโ€™ Day! ๐ŸŒฟ

To the teachers who do so much more than teachโ€ฆ

Who spark curiosity, encourage questions, notice the little things, and help children see the world with wonder. ๐Ÿ’š

At A Green Venture, we believe that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children step outside โ€” when they touch a leaf, watch an ant carry food, listen to a bird call, or simply pause to wonder at a tree.

And behind every curious child is often a teacher who made them feel safe enough to ask, explore and discover. ๐ŸŒฑ

Today, we celebrate all the teachers who nurture not just young minds, but kind, curious and conscious human beings.

Thank you for planting seeds of learning, wonder and care โ€” seeds that will continue to grow long after the classroom is left behind. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

Happy Teachersโ€™ Day!

With gratitude,
A Green Venture ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŠ KNOW REPTILES IN NATURE! ๐ŸฆŽ๐Ÿ

Where Nature Education becomes Play, Adventure & Discovery

We had a terrific season exploring REPTILES with our little nature explorers! ๐ŸŒฑ

What happens when you take a bunch of curious children outdoors and ask them to discover the fascinating world of reptiles?

They look, move, pretend, observe, question, laugh โ€” and learn! ๐Ÿ’š

Over our fun-filled sessions, the children discovered reptiles of all shapes and sizes โ€” from the tiny house and garden lizards they see around them, to enormous crocodiles, gentle tortoises and turtles, and the beautiful snakes that India is so wonderfully known for. ๐Ÿ

And yesโ€ฆ we even asked the important question:

Turtle or Tortoise โ€” do you know the difference? ๐Ÿ‘€

We busted common reptile myths in ways little minds could understand, learnt what it means to be cold-blooded, and thenโ€ฆ we became reptiles ourselves! ๐Ÿ˜„

The children crawled, stretched, slithered and basked in the sun just like crocodiles, lizards, tortoises and snakes โ€” turning a science concept into something they could actually feel and experience. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸฆŽ

Then came our favourite part โ€” OUTDOOR EXPLORATION! ๐Ÿ”Ž๐ŸŒฟ

Armed with curiosity and a nature scavenger hunt, we went looking around the building premises and discovered that there was so much more life around us than we imagined:

๐Ÿœ Weaver ants working together
๐Ÿ Honeybees hovering nearby
๐Ÿชฒ Beautiful little bugs hiding in plain sight
๐Ÿชท A tiny, delicate damselfly
๐ŸฆŽ And, of course, our very own resident lizards and geckos!

Because when children learn through movement, stories, games, observation and imagination, something wonderful happens:

They donโ€™t just learn about Nature.

They begin to notice it. ๐Ÿ’š

That is what our nature sessions are all about โ€” taking education outdoors and turning it into play, wonder and real-world discovery.

A one-hour session.
A little patch of outdoor space.
A whole world waiting to be discovered.

๐ŸŒฟ KNOW REPTILES IN NATURE
Discover โ€ข Play โ€ข Explore โ€ข Learn

Because Nature education doesnโ€™t always need a classroom.

Sometimes, all it needs is a little curiosity and the world outside. ๐ŸŒฑ

๐ŸŒฟ A lovely morning at Lal Bagh Botanical Garden! ๐ŸŒฟ

A treat for anyone who loves Nature โ€” Lal Bagh was wonderfully alive today. Birds calling, bees buzzing, trees blooming and a beautiful breeze making the morning even more special. ๐Ÿ’š

We spotted and explored so muchโ€ฆ

๐ŸŒฑ Tasted and talked about local edibles โ€” from Hongone Soppu to Sour Leaves
๐Ÿœ Watched ants taking over nests with incredible determination
๐ŸŒณ Climbed a treeโ€ฆ until the whistle literally blew! ๐Ÿ˜„
๐Ÿฆ‰ Found a family of Spotted Owlets quietly observing us while we observed them โ€” swipe right!
๐Ÿ› Discovered the many-legged world of a Millipede
๐Ÿฆ Looked closely at birds and watched Moorhens and Cormorants darting out of sight
๐ŸŒธ Found the Sita Ashoka in bloom โ€” and thereโ€™s a beautiful story hidden in this tree
๐ŸŒผ And then there was Colvilleโ€™s Glory, blooming in its full form, surrounded by what seemed like countless honeybees! ๐Ÿ

Every corner had something to notice, something to question, something to wonder about.

This is what Nature walks are really about โ€” slowing down enough to see what is already around us. ๐ŸŒฟ

Lal Bagh was alive today.

Letโ€™s keep these green jewels alive too. ๐Ÿ’š

A Living Jungle in the Heart of Bangalore ๐ŸŒฟ

What if you could step back into old Bangalore without leaving the city?

This is what makes being the Weekly Naturalist at Taj West End, Bengaluru so special. ๐ŸŒณ

Thereโ€™s a certain nostalgia here โ€” sprawling old trees, quiet pathways, birdsong, the fragrance of flowers and a landscape that feels like it belongs to another time.

Among its many treasures is the story of the oldest recorded Rain Tree on the property, believed to have been planted in the late 1800s. Imagine standing beneath a tree that has watched Bangalore transform around it for well over a century. ๐ŸŒณ

And then there are the monster-sized Pothos, aptly living up to their name โ€” enormous climbers that take decades to reach this scale, creating a wonderfully wild, tropical-jungle feel.

Look a little closer and the Ficus family tells another story โ€” Ficus racemosa, Peepal, Ficus macrophylla and more, each with its own character and relationship with the landscape.

Walk a little further and you might find yourself tasting tamarinds straight from the trees, perhaps spotting oranges, watching butterflies dancing around colour, discovering aromatic flowers and herbs, or exploring the terrace garden where yet another little world awaits. ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŒฟ

And these are just some of the stories.

Every walk brings a new discovery โ€” a bird hiding in the canopy, bees busy at work, a flower releasing its fragrance, an unusual leaf, an old tree with a story, or a tiny detail that you may have walked past a hundred times without noticing.

Taj West End is more than a beautiful hotel.

It is a little piece of back-in-the-day Bangalore, a living collection of trees, plants, birds, insects and stories โ€” a rare green space where nature continues to thrive right in the heart of the city.

A place where birds and bees can truly sing. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒณ

As the Weekly Naturalist founder Kavya Chandra helps guests slow down, look closer and discover this beautiful living jungle โ€” one story at a time.

๐ŸŒฟ Loved by families. Inspired by nature. ๐Ÿ’š

Thereโ€™s something special about watching children discover the outdoors with curiosity in their eyes โ€” noticing a tiny insect, touching a tree, following a trail, listening to birds, or simply getting a little muddy. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฆ‹

At A Green Venture, our walks are about creating those little moments of wonder โ€” for children and for the adults who come along with them.

And when families take the time to share their experiences with us, it means the world. โค๏ธ

A few words from our Google reviews:

โญ๏ธ โ€œBeautifully explained and the children had a lot of funโ€ฆ I would definitely recommend not only for children but also for adults.โ€

โญ๏ธ โ€œSuch a lovely way to experience nature! Kavya made the walk engaging and full of little discoveries, encouraging the kids to observe, explore and interact with the natural world around them.โ€

Thank you to every family who has walked, wondered, explored and learnt with us. ๐ŸŒณ

Hereโ€™s to more muddy fingers, curious questions, little discoveries and big connections with nature. ๐Ÿ’š
