The Incredible Shrinking Potato! 🥔💧

Can you change the shape of a vegetable using nothing but water? This is Osmosis in action!

What you need:
* Two Potato slices/cylinders (keep them the same size to start).
* Cup 1: Distilled Water (Pure H_2O).
* Cup 2: Concentrated Salt Water.

The Results:

* The Turgid Potato: In distilled water, water rushes into the cells. They become stiff and swollen.

* The Plasmolyzed Potato: In salt water, water rushes out of the cells to try and balance the concentration. The potato becomes soft, limp, and "shrivelled."

The Biology Breakdown:

Water always moves from an area of high water concentration to low water concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. This is why hydration is so important for our own cells!

Ever wondered why a density tower doesn't just turn into a brown puddle? It all comes down to how much "stuff" is packed into the space! From heavy dish soap at the bottom to light-as-air alcohol at the top, gravity and molecular structure are doing the heavy lifting here.

The Lineup (from bottom to top):

🔵 Dish Soap (Most dense)

🟢 Water + Dye

🟡 Vegetable Oil

🔴 Rubbing Alcohol (Least dense)
