A strong believer of Guru-Shishya Parampara, Ruma has started Nritya Nikunj with only one objective - to spread the learning and grow the reach of Indian Classical Dance among all age groups of people. Mrs Ruma Shil is a Committed, Dedicated and Passionate Kathak Dancer who has been training in Kathak and other classical dance forms since the age of 5. She is an MA (Gold Medallist) and PhD in Kathak from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwa Vidyalaya (India's first university dedicated for Arts, Music and Performing Arts), Chhattisgarh. Her Gurus are Late Shri Umashankar Chakraborty and Prof. Dr. Mandvi Singh (Currently Vice Chancellor of I.K.S.V.V). She has also been trained by eminent Gurus (through Workshops and other mediums) like Pt. Birju Maharaj, Sri Krishnamohan Mishra, Sri Rammohan Mishra, Saswati Sen, Smt. Kumkum Dhar, Smt. Amita Datta, Smt. Mamta Sankar, Pt. Rajen Gangani, Sri Ashim Bandhu Bhattacharjee, Basanti Vaishnav, Suchita Hamalkar, Smt Padma Sharma, Sri Subhash Bandopadhyay. Her latest composition (choreographed and lead role) of Dance Drama "Chandalika" was highly appreciated in the business Expo at Mandya, Chhattisgarh and at Shrut Mondol in I.K.S.V.V. She seeks blessings from everyone in her new journey.
